Always against time, monthly clients books not in good order, fixing mistakes of people that left! I did learn payrolll here which is a new skill to me. Everything becomes urgent a day or 2 before its due, but management is aware of this months ago! Since monthly clients are messed up I have no time to complie more annual financial statements. At my level I need to be doing more annual financial statements compilations. I do the payroll for 1 of our biggest clients, more than 250 staff. Just wish there where segration of duties to make our department work. Some financials are done on word and excel, these are challenging as its harder to balance. I deal with an array of clients so I have different experiences with the sectors. We do not have enough staff so we are overworked and stressed, working overtime and have no quality of life.

Main activities – Accounting Outsourcing for a large Hotel Chain • Senior over 3 junior staff members • Setup new Navision administrations/entities and accounting systems • Capturing/reviewing invoices and book invoices into Navision • Creditor and Debtor reconciliations and control on weekly basis • Prepare and maintain annual budgets • Capture bank transactions and perform reconciliation of cashbooks • Book journal entries • Calculation and submission of VAT (NL, UK, FR) • Month-end and quarter-end reporting • Intercompany loan reconciliations and current account recharges • Create and maintain working programs for daily/monthly tasks • Prepare and supply clients with weekly payment advice/files. • Assist auditors with annual audit • FX – Calculate exchange rates and post exchange rate updates in NAV

Corporate tax manager
Offer consulting advice on different client industry. Assist external audit with tax review and opinion writing. Continuous learning as one meet different client with different fact requiring application of the same tax Act. Due to changes in the legislation and the economy, one is required to be on alert to ensure relevance in servicing client. Client relationship is of importance. Work not routine. I wok well with a team both senior and sub ordinate. Work deadline driven.

Exposure to a new industry
My branch is rather small compared to the Jhb branch. I manage a staff compliment of 94 in the Pretoria region. Typycal work day would include general queries (leave,resignations ect), it is a highly specialised invironment in a competetive industry, so I am always looking for talent. I work very closesly with the Audit Department, especially the trainee accountants, the rest of the staff are very much independent and dependable. What I love the most about the Accounting Industry is that the careers are mapped out. You can predict based on qualification and experience which position one should be and what salary benchmark they should be. That way room for unfairness becomes smaller. Whats challanging is the red tape that comes with ensuring that the trainees get their core hours and competencies to become future Accountants.

Problem Management
One the best aspects of my current role is how I'm the go between the business and IT. We've developed manier projects for the different departments tailor made for their workflows. Within IT as well, the different specializations often collaborated to resolve Problems/Incidents.

My day to day
I am currently an auditor in charge thus I am responsible for running an audit engagement thus planning the audit, over looking execution and finalising the audit. I have junior staff working in my teams and I report directly to Senior Managers or Partners.

Finacial analysis
Good duat goi have woorked with BDO for more than 5 years and i got retrenched after working them for more than 5 years i am currently unemployed and looking for a job i have my own transport and available immediately
