Learnt about new product ranges, how to calculate the best pricing, and to source the best suppliers
I came into contact with all levels of the company, from the warehouse staff to Management. I enjoyed learning the new functions of computer programs, calculating pricing and liaising with Suppliers, and taking on challenges an and completing them. The day to day contact with co-workers was pleasant, although I found that younger people do not accept responsibility, and were reluctant to take on new challenges. I also used to get frustrated when they delayed in giving you needed information. I established an accurate record of capturing invoices, processing credits and tracking performances, and built up trust between Suppliers, warehouse staff and the drivers. The most challenging aspects of the job was lack of training, and the human resources department consisted of the owner and his supervisor. Impartial treatment of employees was not always evident.
Pros: There was opportunity for growth.
Cons: One's achievements were not acknowledged, and salary expectations were below market.
