Excellent learning

Its a very busy mining industry,i am doing inventory, i am working with good people and we work as a team i am enjoying working with my team,i learn to have respect to your co-workers, and you have to help them when there is a need,i enjoy to work as a team and a special when people are not lazy it makes me very happy,when we cant reach the target i become so stressed and panicking.

Pros: No great oppotunities
Cons: Normal hours

It was a learning curve, cause one had to start new things from scratch and go with it

A typical day would be Morning management meeting and the dashboard of things done and to do,then staff meeting for the weekly's duties and requirements. Daily duties would be dealing with suppliers queries,statements and payments, adhoc requirements, helping casebook to balance, updating aging analysis, general ledger recons, loading of new suppliers, checking purchase orders for processing, looking at the diesel recon before sending it to management

It was a learning curve, cause one had to start new things from scratch and go with it

When I got there they didn't even use issuing of stores item,I went to my then CFO and we started with the issuing of PPE ,we then started the coding of inventory, we then moved to diesel issueing( I even took over the ordering of diesel cause too much was ordered without any control),which gave us control of stores items and saved the company money. Also checking purchase orders to make surely that the correct code and project code was used before processing helped me curb the incorrect entries.

Great experience

Excellent experience that I've learned and still learning in the mining industry. The way soil is treated to get the gold bar out, and also very important always check the gold price when you sell. Team work makes the production very easy. The biggest challenge or stressing part of the work is when the soil has been tested and the grade looks good but when its been processed the result become very bad. Mining is the riskiest business I've ever come across.

Cons: Operation depends on the type of soil you process

No growth, fair treatment or job security

I work with Creditor's and therefore am busy on a daily basis, solving queries, and as there are deliveries everyday, I work on pastel processing invoices daily. I have a good relationship with my team, of course we have disagreements but we work well as a team to get the job done. I have learned to work under pressure, polished my communication skills, improved on excel and presentation. I have learned the importance of accuracy and paying attention to details. I have learned how to keep the asset register, cashbook, reconciliation of payables, revenue recon. The most challenging time would be month end, mid-year and end-year audits.

Pros: no pressure
Cons: No growth, no incentives, no versatility
