Strategic Partner, Operational Manager, Employee Mediator and Emergency Responder

My work is both strategic and operational. My relationship with co workers is generally good. I have learnt a great deal about energy/electricity challenges. i enjoy the fact that each day is different and unique. The most challenging aspects are being accepted as a strategic partner and not administrative HR since this position is a new concept and I work mostly with technical people who view HR as just a soft skill. My other challenge is that there is no sense of urgency from some centers of excellence for me to deliver on time. The exciting part is finding new ways to add value and seeing the mind shift from other clients who only saw HR as administration.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning more about the industry I'm in rather than being just HR. Great opportunity to learn more about HR as a generalist as I was specialising in Training only prior.
Cons: Working with technical people whose work means you can schedule them for meetings or sessions and they will be a power failure or some emergency and they cannot attend.

A world class energy supply

I Fumani Baloyi hereby to apply for field service engineer i completed N1-N6 Electrical engineering at cetral johannesburg college currently working at city power and my contract is ending soon I Worked under senior electrical engineers to design PV systems that converted sunlight into electricity. Equipped selected PV systems with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) capability, allowing customers to operate selected circuits for hours (or even days) during a utility power outage. Assisted in distributed system voltage performance analysis for high-level penetration photovoltaics, contributing to research study that will be used to optimize future PV systems. Conducted efficiency and price/watt comparisons on other solar power systems on the market to gather intelligence used for marketing campaigns. Wrote content for company blog to educate the public on the advantages of solar electric power

Excellent learning curve

• Provide technical assistance by responding to technical related queries from users, problems or questions about the applications. • Analyze user’s problem and establish the possible problem and solutions. • Assist in implementing change control processes • Running SQL query to extract meter status, events report .Ensure that reports produced by the system balance and are correct in terms of monitory values. • Plan, send, monitor and report Load Limiting strategies to smart meters • Conducting presentations to colleagues, customers • Testing installed Smart Switch and educating customers to control installed switch • Project documentation (Project plan, Project charter, business case, etc.) • Writing meeting minutes and keeping the record of Attendance register • Uploading projects documents on SharePoint

Work experience

If a person is goal driven and open for challenges, City power is not a place to be, at our department, all key positions are vacant, we have acting unqualified managers, that on its own makes subordinates to lack courage and enthusiasm to perform because our managers are biased , they treat us unequal. 90% of work is allocated to ccontractors that leave us permanent staff without work and bored. My intention was to work there as long as possible, the challenge is that I don't see myself growing as a person and my job is not challenging, my passion is to ensure that at the end of the working day company's goals are reached and value is added, contribution to the company's objective Will not only make the stakeholders happy but I will also be happy and have inner fulfilment. I also possess enough work eexperience in the electrical industry and am very good with customers together with coworkers.

Hard working person

I am an incredibly optimistic individual always looking at the bigger picture. I am always determined to do better at everything I do as well as better myself. I feel that my positive attitude is one of my greatest attributes and will always play in my favour. I am productive and hard working. I strive to better myself, better my skill set and give my best effort in everything i do. I never quit and I never say no. I will always push myself to the best of my abilities and try and try again until I succeed.

Moderate learning curve closely excellent

My work is to insure system maintenance of protection of high voltage network function properly, proper maintenance in transformers checking oils and the restrainance of faults from occurring and ensure quality services for the customer's to receive power at the exact time , and mostly working with contractors switching for opporations in MV /LV network maintenance. And planning of oporational diagrams and co-odinatinating for the project implementation

Hard working and keen to learn

Good working environment Working shifts which i enjoy Managing four trade workers Challenges is to interact with angry customers and we have to make sure they are happy at all times and calm them down Company assist us with studying which helped me do my Master Installation course Have good working relationships with all the co-workers at the depot of 80 workers
