This job was a good entry level into the packaging industry as we deal with most types of packaging

My day starts with a daily production meeting, where all problems over the last 24hrs are dealt with. Responding to urgent e-mail is my next task and also dealing with whatever is required. Checking of artwork and forwarding to clients as well as drawing up of layout die-lines for all new designs follows. All incoming polymers is also checked before submitting to production. I normally also have at least 2 meeting per day for various tasks, such as development and also normally ways of easing tasks around the workplace. these meeting are normally about an hour each. I am also called on to problem solve issues on the press and responsible for signing off all new jobs on behalf of the customer, when they are unable to attend the press pass. I have a good relationship with everybody and am well liked. the most challenging part of my day is always trying to explain issues to our MD who is not from a printing background and struggles to understand printing related issues.

Pros: Limted local travel
Cons: being availbe 24-7 for any problems

Good learning opportunities

Working at Colpak has been a great learning experience and the journey has afforded me many promotions. Diverse cultures and great working environment makes a typical work day very pleasant. Over the years I've learnt a great deal and grew more emotionally matured. Being able to deal with challenges more effectively rather than expressing frustration. What I enjoy most is achieving the goals I set for myself. The most challenging aspects of my current job is dealing with suppliers and negotiating pricing.

Pros: good remuneration compared to other companies
Cons: no flexibility

Great Learning curve

Good team members and great exposure on different aspects of Procurement. Relationship with my manager is great, I get support from her. Unfortunately the senior level management is not so great. Despite the negative energy that comes from the leadership, I enjoy my work, I have learnt a lot.
