Huge amount of client interaction and collaboration with other teams
My job requires a lot of Client interaction. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is of utmost importance. Attending to client requests, queries or issues must be resolved within 24 hours. Building strong relationships with the client and within the company is extremely important. It is imperative to ensure that controls are complied with and to find ways to reduce errors and mitigate risk. Multi skilling is necessary to provide cover on other processes in the event of staff shortages. One should be able to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines. Working on projects to improve automation and business effiency is also required. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written is necessary. The ability to work independently or as part of a team is required. Respect and integrity is important. The most amazing thing that I find is that you are always learning. What I find satisfying is when clients or co workers are happy with my deliverables expertise.

Been a great learning journey of growth
Working at Curo had given me the opportunity to grow in the investment industry. Getting to learn how the b back office space of the investment industry operates and the affect we have in the market. Exposure to some of the top investment firms in South Africa as our clients and having the chance to meet clients. There are challenges like any other firm and industry, but what you what take from it enables you grow and develop your career profile. Those were dealing with a multi tude of audits throughout the year, as a team leader of a team of 10 is a challenge in itself and iv learnt the most of myself leading a team in the past 2 years. In our industry we have many deliverables daily monthly quarterly yearly, servicing so many clients and responsible for information that is used to make investment decisions expects a continuous maintained output with minimal impact to our clients and their shareholders.

Good working culture, limited growth to young people
Curo is the first company I’ve worked for. I initially wanted to be an intern for auditing department and I was unsuccessful a graduate with cost and management accounting degree was taken over me who graduated in Internal auditing with cum laude. I later enrolled for risk management and made it known bu management that I’d like to have an opportunity in risk management department and again opportunities are given to other people who don’t have the qualifications and not studying towards risk management. There’s limited opportunities for specializing departments especially for young people.

Operations - Many teams working in tandem to ensure client centricity through operational excellence. Key is the achievement of hourly deadlines to ensure the successful processing of trades in order to strike NAVs and execute reporting. Escalation is paramount to swift resolution of any setbacks.

Excellent learning opportunities

Excellent investment administration exposure
Curo is one of the best companies to work for Excellent company to work for. Provides training courses, certification courses and continuously find ways to train and educate staff. Company cares about their staff, provides good salaries, work environment and staff mental health.

Challenging and dynamic environment
It is a challenging but dynamic environment and I work with a very strong, intelligent and pleasant team. I don't really have a typical day as there are new challenges all the time. I enjoy engaging with different members of staff within the business.
