Technical and Challenging

I start each day at Defy with vigour and much enthusiasm as I am a keen learner. I always strive for excellence in all the tasks that are given to me. I perform SABS tests on ovens, stoves and hobs and report back all results and test data. We work in a team that is competent in Engineering and its principles and that has rubbed off on me as a fellow team member. I enjoy fault finding and solving problems which is what typically occurs on any given time. The laboratory has ISO17025:2017 accreditation for Energy Efficiency testing and I am at the centre of it all as a SANAS approved Technical Signatory.The most challenging aspect of the job is time management. There are many tests that need to be conducted and I have come to realise the importance of proper scheduling and trying to improve the output of the laboratory.

Pros: Gain invaluable experience. Get to familiarise yourself with all the technical aspects of all products.
Cons: Lack of training in specific areas of the job.

What I learn

Its depend what is import for that day but I always make sure that I meet the deadlines for the task of the day. I am a team player, I learn that if there is issues communication is the best solution. What I enjoy the most my work is challenging dealing with different supplier with different personalities. The most challenging aspect about it month end deadlines but its taught me to multitask, keep calm and make sure I meet all the deadlines.

Pros: I join this company from school, learn lot of things since I started as a filling clerk
Cons: at month ends yes we work long hours to make sure all the deadlines are meet

Great opportunity to learn

I was employed initially as a receptionist but joined the admin/ financial department assisting with sales orders and admin and financial work because i have a hunger to learn more and grow as an individual, i assist my colleagues when ever they need it, im a team player, i ask questions with things im inquisitive with, i brighten up the office with my bubbly personality and i find it hard to work with people who are not goal driven and careless about their work or dont take pride in it.

Pros: Great learning opportunities and experience
Cons: I dislike people who cant work as a team and careless about their work.

Investigation driven

Excessive amount of investigative audits Very poor control environment Considerable amount of Management override On the positive side, one always has something different to do due to the large number of Adhoc assignments.

Pros: Very little opportunity to become bored
Cons: Limited scope for advancement

Varied job tasks, keeps me occupied

Working at Defy is a great experience. I interact with many different types of personalities and am friendly with each one. I work under extremely busy conditions, deadline driven and time consuming. I have a wonderful relationship with all my working colleagues. We get on very well with each other, professionally and personally. Each one of our team members has become family members at work. I enjoy interaction and being occupied, it keeps me intrigued and I enjoy my job. Most challenging aspect of my Job is getting financial deadlines completed with the minimum amount of time frame and the satisfaction of achieving my deadline is what drives me.

Pros: Great opportunity for career growth
Cons: Lots of personal time needed to complete deadlines.
