Great exposure in human resource department
Working close to workshop required one to have PPE for safety reasons such boots and reflectors. I was given this five months opportunity to explore other avenues. My typical day would include; time sheets, capturing of their details on VIP Sage, updating file, prepare warning letter while other needs to go through disciplinary meetings. I had a wonderful relationship with all the employees from the office to workshop. I treated them equally and with dignity but firm. I have learn processes of registering the company through SARS, Labour and Bargaining Council my director use to go with me to all these places. I enjoyed being the all rounder start from cleaning the offices, doing the admin and heading the ihuman resources department. The most challenging aspect i had was to conduct a disciplinary hearing of a broken man who had family challenges that affected his work perfomance.
Pros: Being able to multitask and learn more skills
Cons: No promotion opportunities as the company was still new with financial challenges.

Real work exposure
My working day revolves from cleanind and tyding before everyone arrives in the office. Deal with time sheet, absenteeism reports and late coming and convey the message to supervisors. Capturing any change from employee details, follow up on warnings and conduct disciplinary hearing if necessary or advise on labour issues that involve labour, Sars and Bargaining Councils. Calculate salaries for weekly and monthly payouts. I have an excellent relationship with co-workers from management to workshop guys. We treated each other with respect and dignity. I have learnt a lot, firstly working on differently environment such as engineering, we are only two woman in the staff. I enjoy building relationship with everyone, offer counselling on work and personal issues. And advis on career development. Most challenging aspect is to be taken for granted because you are woman, being paid way less than your fellow co-workers. Secondly disciplining men is not easy one will be judged of being assertive
Pros: Wish my contract was long.
Cons: No promotion opportunities as the company was still new with financial challenges.
