working at hi calibre has been a great opportunity. I got the job soon after graduation and i have been working there as a draughtsman even though i am a qualified engineer. The learning was great at first until recently i feel like i am about to hit the ceiling i.e i am not learning new things everyday and the job feels like a routine as opposed to my first 18 months. the last seven months i feel like i am no longer learning new things and each day is exactly like the previous, just churning out drawings one after another.My colleagues on the Engineering department, Ifeel are much further ahead interms of exposure and knowledge, let alone salary as compared to me. yet we have exact qualifications and i find myself reporting to them.

Pros: Great opportunity for a budding engineer
Cons: long hours, poor planning on project managers part which in turn increases unneccessary re work on the draughting department

A day at the office

We are a close knit group that works in the Johannesburg for a Cape Town based company. I work from home mostly unless we arrange to have meetings and project site visits. Since we are only 3 employees, Engineer, draughtsman & project manager we work well together and enjoy running with a project from start to finish. We are profesional and get the job done. Unfortunately we are opening an office in Midrand and the distance is just too great from Benoni to Midrand daily.

Pros: Flexi work hours & currently a home office wrorking setup
Cons: Office relocation & Salary
