What I have learnt personally is to appreciate people and build solid relationship with other stakeholders such as Production Personnel.What I really enjoy most is when I get recognized for the excellent work I am doing, that keep me happy and eager to do more. My typical work day, is mainly morning meetings,going to the plant with my team to do preventative maintenance, and for shutdowns I am involve in designing,planning ordering spares,develop risk assessments and execution. The most challenging aspect is absentiseem

Pros: Good safety record,conduct my budget very well,develop strategy for my plant.Good interpersonal communication with management and subordinate.Positive minded and can rely on.
Cons: Challenging times for the company.Focust shows we are running at a loss due to unforseen circumstances: Raw material sudden price increase,eskom contract up for renewal and possible retrenchment in order to keep company afloat.

Relocated to Pretoria

I enjoy reviewing and updates of Scopes of Work whilst inserting new or ommited lagistations that would increase accuracy and quality of work. The part that made me like challenges most is the issue involving Engineering drawings. The 3D views have enhanced the understanding of the current processes. I have learned that continuous improvement is vital in all operations.

Pros: Opportunity to meet new people and expand my knowledge
Cons: Spend long hours in traffic afterwork whilst longing to get hone after a hefty day.

Good company, leadership attitude, tough market conditions.

Hillside is a good company to work for with excellent systems and design. Through the years it seems that the quality of leadership has degenerated, our integration with the Australians was also not a winning solution for us as workers and we are about to be retrenched.

Pros: good pay
Cons: no promotion in 20 years

Excellent Learning

I work shifts at work. I work at the Warehouse/Supply at the Issuing section. The exposure I get is so high because I work with SAP all the time because I need to issue spares to the Maintenance team who comes to the stores for break downs. There has to be an understanding between Warehouse team and the Maintenance team. The relationship is very good with the team I work with. I have learnt that team work is very important in order to achieve greater things. I have enjoyed to make sure that the plant finds their spares on their request when the vendor delivered incorrect spare

Challenging but enjoying

My normal day will start with plant walk to get updates from the operators and artisans on the floor of the status of the plant. Morning meeting to discuss the plan for the day. What I have learnt is to handle each person differently. I enjoy to make a change in someone's live. I you want to get something done, manage it yourself.

Pros: Good opportunity to grow
Cons: Unneccery challenges
