Doing Internal Audit is fun and intersting. I have learnt analytical skills through auditing the different processes or cycles for organisations. In my workplace we are short staffed and that leads to one working under preasure to be able to meet deadlines. The relationship I have with my co workers its good its the one that keep me going because we work as a team in most cases and we have to be able to allocate work in an effecient way. What I enjoy the most is working with different clients and making sure that I am adding value as its one of the qualities as Internal auditors must have. The challenging part in internal auditing is dealing with difficult clients, where they will delay to give you the required information and sometimes its not easy to accept the findings after auditing.

Pros: The is a room for growth
Cons: Salary perk is not reasonable

Excellent learning curve for the entry level

My company is a good company for an entry level position as I have learnt a to I have acquired knowledge of the IPPF, Treasury Regulations, IFRS, GRAP, IAS, and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Polices and IIA Code of Ethics, Companies Act and knowledge of the MFMA. I have experience with execution of risk-based audit engagements as well as sound knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. I am currently a member of the IIA (SA). I can communicate well at various Organizational levels and have gained the ability to interview personnel to get relevant information through doing enquiries during audit execution.

Excellent growth opportunities

Our firm is a 100% black owned consulting firm of specialising in a range of Audit, Business Advisory, Information Technology and Forensic Audit and Consulting services. I got to learn a lot about drive, work ethic and managing people.

I was employed as a Business Consultant which entailed running and executing advisory projects, including but not limited to audit readiness for clients, financial statements, review engagements and specific assignments. Audit readiness involved mostly ensuring that all amounts to be reported on are correct and are supported by schedules and reconciliations which have appropriate supporting documents. As a team leader a significant part of project management was my responsibility, from planning the project, budgeting, preparing project plans for clients, project assumptions and reporting on any risks which may compromise the completion of the project. I am able to supervise resources assigned on projects and also transfer skills where needed

Skills tranfer

Great for training as a graduate but because of contracts you can’t plan for your life.The rest is fine and the work is manageable however because of being short staffed we always have to work overtime.
