QUALITY CONTROLLER AND QUANTITY SURVEYING FOR BIG PROJECT AT MTHATHA DEALING WITH 10 FOREMENS.

ICON CONSTRUCTION IS A BIG COMPANY THAT IS BASED ON DURBAN KZN I WORKED FOR ICON FROM 2007-2010 AS ASSISTANT QUALITY CONTROLLER WHERE I WAS DOING COMPACTION TESTING. IN 2010 I WENT TO SCHOOL TO STUDY AT WALTER SISULU UNIVERSITY,WHERE I HAVE GOT MY ND BUILDING IN 2013. IN 2014 I WENT BACK TO ICON CONSTRUCTION UP TO 29-07-2017, IN ICON CONSTRUCTION I WAS DOING PAYMENT CERTIFICATE,COMPACTION TESTING, MEASURING, ESCALATIONS, ANALYSING DRAWINGS, PRICING BILLS OF QUANTITIES, VO'S AND HEALTH AND SAFETY. IT WAS SO MUCH GOOD TO WORK FOR ICON CONSTRUCTION BECAUSE EACH AND EVERY EMPLOYEE IS GIVEN HIS OR HER TASK TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY. EVEN THOUGH WE WERE WORKING UNDER PRESSURE. WE ALWAYS WORK OVER TIME THAT IS DECIDED BY YOU BECAUSE OF TIGHT DEAD LINES . I LEARNT TO WORK UNDER PRESSURE AND WORK INDEPENDENTLY

Pros: MEETING ALL DEAR LINE,
Cons: I WAS WORKING FROM 6:00- 18:00 BECAUSE WE WANTED TO FINISH BEFORE COMPLETION TIME

Yes I did learnt a lot and I'm still looking forward to learn more

I have grown tomuch working in this company for all these years since 2009 . I run my own team . Biggest reservoir I have do is 5 ml in 8 months complete time. Any many more structures. I use company bakkie which I keep with me. Liase with engineers on site and order materials .. setting out levels with dumpy level and other instruments. Quality control check ; saftey rules and regulations. Good communication skills.

Pros: Depending on who you know in the management
Cons: When changing sites they don't give enough time to notice you that you need to be advised that you changing site.

Looking for growth

I am a bubbly person whereby if l am not at work for once people will feel lonely thats how l make people in the office feel at home since we spend most of our time at work. I always meet my targets given to me and always strive to excel in all l do. I always get along with everyone even in the first day we meet and you will always be comfortable around me that is the person l am. I really did learn a lot from working at my current job. I have learned to get along with everyone as one family and never a time you would feel not to be part of the family and also the directors believe in an open door policy which makes it so easy to speak well with the management I do not recall having any challenging situations since everyone was always available to help whenever you need a helping hand

Pros: no growth in the company
Cons: There are long working hours and not flexible for working mothers like myself

Great Company Benefits

Great company to work for but there is no room for growth therefore career planning is limited. The Company environment is fairly good to work in, people are friendly but not necessary always helpful and assisting.

No enough knowledge gained

Morning Sir or Madam I learned a lot about survey because the project I had been involved on it is based on surveying of I did Civil engineering not survey but I learned basic of surveying that's why I had been capable of doing work given by the company, which means what I gained is based on survey department the most not on Civil only little knowledge I gained that was based on Civil engineering, I did easy job that made my mind free without problems and confusion though I wanted my mind to work hard to keep it functioning everytime. Regard Siboniso Magwaza
