Day in the life as COO

Typical day starts at 07H00 and end 16H00 Oversee plant and surface operations - tailings contract, security management, surface infrastructure maintenance and compliance, safety management, financial control on expenditure, development of staff. Relationship with supervisor, peers and subordinates well established and good, somewhat of task master, hence do have to put foot down some days to ensure targets are met and achieved. Most enjoyable and challenging aspect of my job is to improve overall performance through performance management, challenging the status quo and driving towards improved operations / excellence. Enjoy achieving and exceeding targets and chellenges set. Do not like to be micro manged, as I am a self starter and self motivator. Appreciate some guidance to assure I am aligned with company goals and objectives.

Very interesting and exellent learning curve

IN MY CREER , I AM Sure of one thing and that is i want to build a decent career in my current domain.my present jop has shown me the path to move and attain what has been my long term career objective .i have acquire necessary skills to some extent as well as have got accustomed to the corporate way of working .i lead by example and not by command.so managing people is a skill you learn from listening, explaining expectations and working with your employees...so basiccaly we where working as a team and i was treatining them with respect and they also treat me with respect .I ONCE SET EXEMPLARY PUNISHMENT FOR ONE OF MY SUBONATES FOR NOT LISTENING TO MY INSTRUCTIONS AND OBVIOUSLY THEY DIDNT LIKED THE CHOICES THAT I HAVE TAKED BUT I END UP EXPLANING TO THEM THEN WE AGREED...THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECTS OF THE JOP IS TO NOT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AND TO NOT BE HANDS ON..REMEMBER WE NEED TO BE AN EXAMPLARLY TO OUR SUBONATES IS TO BE ..

Good learning curve

It was good to work with other people. I work hard to do my job to be nice and safe. I was working on the electrical panel and pumps. I was so excited to see my panel and pumps and belt's running. I learned that safety come first. No safety no production. The challenge part is when I see the break down on the belt.

Pros: To work hard so that I can get promotion

Well motivated

AAsdaily duties include pulling and rolling of the cable. Suspending cables, connecting plant pumps and conveyor belts maintainance. WMy relationship with my co workers is very healthy because i adapt very easily to new environment. What i have learned is that never underestimate the intillegence of any co worker especially on a major breakdown. What i love mist about my job is the fact that im the kne who is incharge of most of the HT side electrical installations. a HT ticket holder, my experience s

Currently still studying mechanical engineering & supervisory

I do inspection to identify things to be replace /repair during maintenance and attend to breakdowns and new installation. I work well with my team (process and workshop) because of good attitude and approach. I learn different cultures and companies procedures and gained more experience on my career I enjoy my work challenge and having conversation that challenges knowledge I deal with unseen enemy that needed to be tested and locked out for safety purposes

Pros: I am a dedicated person drove by passion and determination and also reliable and honest and work well wth the team and on my own as well with or without supervision and I'm a good listener who's willing to learn and share knowledge
Cons: I don't have problems with working long hours because it depends on criticality
