Different expieriences

Worked at three different properties for same company. Good stable company to work for .Each unit is a stand alone cost centre which creates challenges of its own as not all equally financially strong. Always easy when the cheque book is thick. In spite of this I managed to enjoy the challenges and it inspired me to form part of the effort to contain costs and contribute to companies overall performance by supplying an above standard to the guests. Dealing with day to day routine maintenance , but mostly with the unexpected emergency crisis's that always happen in the hotel industry. This is my strongpoint ,due to my ability to be innovative and think out the box. Over the years I have developed a system with my colleagues both above and below that is based on respect earned is respect given and have always been able to motivate my team to perform better than expected. I love skills transfer and have been very successful in this regard.

Pros: Strong stable company with security
Cons: Stand alone cost centres which results in some units being challenging in finaces available to get job done

Great hotel and group, nice opportunity and great experience

Busy banqueting mornings with hectic lunch times, and very busy evenings buffet as well as Ala cart and room service. i have a fantastic team which are hard working & good consistency. Most challenging is the variety of guests, with individual dietary requirements. i love cooking & i am good at creating new dishes and playing around with ideas & to see guests happy with my food and service. i have learnt that only a strong kitchen team can make a success of any restaurant.

Pros: Good group to work for.
Cons: No bonuses & no motivation

Excellent working environment

Working at the commodore and portswood hotel as a electrician and supervisor in the maintenance department has made me grow in my profession. I have gained the knowledge and skill of management.
