Working for the local municipality has its cons and pros.
It is a nice environment to work in, as I deal with different types of People. The work load varies from time to time, but I really love what I do here as it broadens my knowledge and my interpersonal skills. We have a great working relationship with my co-workers. I like learning new things to make my job interesting, the most challenging aspects about my job description is the workload one has to give. The team and I went to a team building and we had fun as we got to learn and respect each other. To be honest some days differ from others as it is expected in every organization. Working for the municipality can be tough sometimes as the locals account everyone for the services.
Pros: Not working on Public holidays and sometimes on weekends.
Cons: Working long hours and not getting paid for overtime as i am on contract.

EXCELLENT LEARING CURVE
Preparing a risk-based audit plan and an internal audit program for each financial year Identifying risk and controls and undertaking process analysis Evaluating test results and designing an effective control environment for all audits Preparing Internal Audit reports with recommendations to findings/ exceptions identified during execution and reporting to the Management and the Audit Committee Providing consulting and assurance services to the clients (departments within the municipality) Setting auditing strategies and goals, overseeing implementation and schedules. Identifying and implementing control and compliance initiatives across the organisation.
Pros: excellent work culture
Cons: low opportunities for promotion

Experience and exposure to Senior Executive working environment
Besides chairing Council meetings, I research work related matters. Meet clients Hear and listennto Councillors and officials concerns Advise management on various issues such as compliance with legislations, bylaws, etc
