Great environment to grow and learn

Duties range regularly but limited to HR functions like providing assistance in the development of Transformation, constantly consulting with other departments like Procurement, Learning & Development, SED and ED in line with programs intended to support the organizations to support B-BBEE Codes. I assisted in gathering supporting Evidence and gap analysis and coming up with recommendations. Analyse documentary evidence for compliance with B-BBEE requirements and do Preliminary Verification using BEE Toolkit. Recruitment, where I advertise, shortlist, contacting candidates and interviews I enjoyed the diversity and the large scope of my work, doing different things all the time with different people, ironically, it was hard to juggle all those duties all the time and sometimes it seemed like other duties where left all to me alone. I would almost always had to put in extra efforts and time to complete projects but I loved it

Pros: great environment ro learn and show your worth
Cons: no clear clear job description

Exellent experience

Normally is challenging and interesting at the same time, because there is a huge load of work but on top of that I happen to learn a new thing in a day. I have a harmonious working relationship with the colleagues because we keep professional. I have learned to be always ethical and focus on my job as well as structuring my time to fit in to my activities. it always makes me happy to go home knowing that I have met my deadline early before even due date. the only challenging part is that we have many plantations that we have to assist within the office and the employees working in the plantations do not understand how we function within the office so they expect immediate response to every application irrespective of how the process is done, so it is really a challenge for me and I have already propose to the management that workshops be done in order to inform them about procedures.

Pros: career growth
Cons: working hous are long

Group CFO experience

My role is multidimensional. Its a combination of governance finance and politics. I need to have a good understanding of the world economy, South African economy, political situation and changes in the agriculture environment. I lead the finance, payroll, procurement, risk and forensics functions. These are key to the success of the organisation and I led the organisation from a prior period loss and projected loss to profits in the last financial period. This was done by driving excellence and creating and maintaining a positive work force. Being a State-owned entity maintaining ethics and consistency was an absolute must to redefine the way the country sees SOE's. The most challenging aspect was by far the political interference with business practices. I overcame this by sticking to my mandate and following regulations.

Pros: Great learning curve. Company required a turnaround and I provided much needed change
Cons: Political interference

Learning curve

I'm in charge with all harvesting operation, thinning's, clear-felling and marking for thinning's. The relation we have my team is good because we seat as a team to work together in a way forward for achieving our day to day target where we will have a monthly target and we have to divide that by each working day of the month and also include the shutdown days ( breakdowns and weather). The most challenging thing is having one client because of the area location, so no much experience is gain. More clients more experience you will have. what I enjoy the most is that this job need you to be outdoor with the team.

Pros: provide greave opportunuty of gaining knowledge chances and getting promotions
Cons: Fire season

Great learning curve

Typical work day:- I do a lot of work with my junior accountant to help clean-up transactions that could not be resolved at month-end. Therefore, I check the management accounts and we do cost corrections.. - We are also trying to reconcile all the balance sheet accounts and make sure that supporting documents agrees to JDE, if not, reconcile and clear transactions now before year-end. - Right now I was busy with the Group budget cuts, Exco and board do high-level cuts, from there I have to narrow it down to entities. Enjoy most: I think having different ad-hoc tasks to do in-between creates challenges. Right now I am assisting my boss to prepare a revenue projection for the next 5 years for our corporate plan and strategy. on point of view. Most challenging aspect of my job: I think the most challenging part of my job, is having to feel responsible for reporting unpleasant financial results.

Pros: opportunity for growth
Cons: late nights and weekend work
