Safmarine as a work place

Safmarine is definitely an AWESOME to work for - professional, family culture and open door management. Work is always 'hectic' and stressful - TIME & MONEY is always on the cards.....this is where time management & team work comes into play. I can confidently say that I am a KEY member of the Safmarine team, I work well with management and staff throughout the country/world. SAF has helped me grow into a professional, one that can make decisions when required, it has shown me the importance of being 'flexible' ...which is key in today's world. Customer Service/Sales is definitely my forte, it has been in my blood since my first company of employment and I will definitely fit in well in any company/industry I opt to work for.

Pros: Pros = Coporate giant - good values - good culture
Cons: Cons = Heavily dependant on 3rd parties to provide the nest service to our clients, can be very challenging

My current workplace

Safmarine is truly a wonderful company to be employed at, part of the corporate giant AP Moller Maersk. It is a company that has good values and a mature, professional working environment with an open door policy in management. The shipping industry is all about time and money, this has thought me how to handle stress in practically every single day of my job....time management, ability to remain calm & teamwork are critical factors and I can confidently say I have all of these qualities. Customer Service/Sales is definitely my forte as i enjoy the interaction with clients & service providers - working together to assist clients in the most effecient way possible. Depending on 3rd parties in order to satisfy ones client can be challenging, this is were relationship with service providers(clients & colleagues) comes into effect.

Pros: International organisation
Cons: Constant streamlining

Safmarine

Time is money in shipping, one has to manage work & time accurately yet be able to make decisions on the spot when necessary. Team work is critical, not only within the office but across the country & abroad. Safmarine has instilled the ethos of professionalism, maturity, good values/ethics and most importanly working together in order to keep customers satisfied.

Pros: International company
Cons: Offshoring of function does limit progress

International Company

There is never enough time on a shipping day, team work, attention to detail, time management, commitment are all critical factors. My career with Safmarine began in August 2007 when volumes were at its peak, I had ZERO knowledge of the industry ,thrown into the deep end I had to learn/adapt very quick....today I am a key member of the Safmarine team. Working for one of the largest shipping lines in the world has thought me professionalism, how to adapt to change and most importantly we have to work with our customers and service providers in order for it all to fall into place.

Pros: Good exposure
Cons: Being an international company, functions are often moved abroad.
