HR in the Country

- Arrive at 06h30am and feed the rural animals. - At my desk by 06h45am - therefore available to staff finishing shift at 07h00am - My language skills, helped in forming trusting relationship with staff in the plant. - I not only represent my company but the staff as well. We have no Union. - Came into job with lots of experience, recommended more user friendly systems, dashboards, etc, frowned upon as current systems used for past 16 years, not open to change. - Learnt to make most of systems in place. - Job Description is what I am told to do. - I enjoy most dealing with staff, assisting them with any problems they have. - Most challenging aspect of job is Communication from Top to Bottom and not being able to work with up to date information and systems.

Pros: I earn a salary at the end of the month and the company subsidies are very good
Cons: No succession planning, poor communication and very poor listening.

Dubai

Developing P&ID’s for entire site including Reactors, Blenders, Utilities and bulk tanks. 3D drawings done on AutoCad Plant 3D for certain areas where changes are to be made in future projects. Managing the commissioning of the new additives and colours area including costing, design and layout. This required liaising with various teams (mainly logistics) to come up with a design that would best suit their requirements in order to improve the ergonomics but also to provide a safer working environment.
