Learning opportunities. diversity of cultures

very challenging at the beginning. Management official s reluctant to changes. poor leadership by senior officials was a great challenge which makes it difficult to deal or reprimand non compliance employees. The general manager was very supportive and i had to keep my head up and strive for improvements in terms of health and safety. working relationships started to improve between employees, supervisor and myself.

Pros: great opportunity to learn new things. Gains lot of experience as i was doing both safety officer and chief safety officer's responsibilities.
Cons: normal working hours but working standbys as well. stabon workers. and high level of illiteracy is a great concern

Private owners therefore we work long hours and not much money to spend on new equipment

Our investors retract from the Mine and now the owners are in financial problems, I would like to work there for years to come but because of the financial stress the owners put us in I would rather get another job.

Pros: The mine is small and we are as one big family
Cons: Equipment is very old and no money to buy new equipment

Challenging cultural changes

Working for this company is not bad as there are lot of challenges facing the company in terms of legislative compliances. but the payment is not market related and the environment is not conducive. my typical work day is to train employees on non-technical stuff, co-ordinating training for the site and other FMP sites for MQA reporting. Relationships is well established and nothing to be learned as the site is very small Nothing to be enjoyed here as we are Micro-managed the most challenging aspects of the job is to have workable social labour plan in place

Cons: No opportunity for development and growth
