Logistics/Supply Chain/Procurement Manager

I am a self-driven and passionate individual who always strive for excellence. I work well both independently as well as in teams. My experience has given me exposure to all aspects of the Supply Chain & Logistics, Production environment leading up to Finance. I’ve held various positions at Buckman Laboratories since 1996. The movement of positions within the company resulted from the company’s internal Talent Management programme. I’ve acquired vast experience from ground level in Supply Chain (i.e. demand planning, working with procurement manager to costings and production planning) all the way to the top. My strengths lie in the manufacturing sector as I’ve developed many in house methods and programmes to manage inventory holistically.I am presently employed with AECI –Senmin International as a Logistics manager and based in Sasolburg.

Excellent learning curve

good working environment with great culture, better competitive salary, i have learnt to respect other people culture since there is diverse culture in the company, the most challenging thing is long working hours in the research department

Great company to work for. Learning and education

My work consists of multiple production duties. Namely start up and shut down of plant, sampling of end product for QC, bagging off finished products.

Mid career developments

A typical work day, Very depressing A learnt a lot on attractive metallurgical processes I do not enjoy anything in this company, I just come to do my job and always looking forward to a day off or leave. There is so much unfairness on employee promotions and deep entrenched systemic racism

Current work has a lot of pros and cons

I am currently the only technician in my area. My manager stays in Kimberley, but I have to write a report to him each week. A typical day for me is to interact with the customer, do maintenance and any other work that needs to be done. I do electrical, mechanical and some instrumentation work. I have a good relationship with my customer and the people that work on the plant. I enjoy the freedom I have at work, but also enjoy the fact that I have to be responsible. The most challenging thing about my work at the moment is that I am always on standby and can get called out any time of the day, and on any day. I learned a lot while working here. Being able to work with pumps, and instrumentation and learning more about the plants processes.

Pros: The work pays well and I travel a lot.
