Great company

Being a sales manager has had its ups and downs, every day is different, with challengers and opportunities. I have a staff compliment of 12 admin and sales people, 1 factory manager and 30 factory General operator staff. I do four quartley visits to our agent in Bloemfontein, where I visit customers together with the sales rep, as well as confirm stock levels / stock take each quarter. I have a good relationship with my staff and always have an open door policy. I attend two visits to our Head office in Cape Town for budget reviews and a sales conference. I have the authority to sign off any buyouts up to R50k without seeking approval. I am responsible for costings and ensuring the branch makes a decent profitability. I enjoy dealing with different customers, I am a hands on guy so enjoy seeing where our product is used in various applications.

Great global company to work for

Oversee all sales coming through the branch and make sure they are being manufactured and delivered on time to OE and OEM customers. Dealing with Key accounts in automotive. Being able to supply a world class product into the market place is great. I have a excellent working relationship with my sales team and factory. I have grown substantially in dealing with executives at boardroom level in OE. I enjoy the structure of corporate as we are a company under numerous other global entities. Availability of material is the most frustrating.

Cons: Tension between factory and outlets

In General it's a great company to work for the only issue that most staff have is that there is people doing exactly the same job but are earning more because of the introduction of the new plastic rate which we feel is being paid a but under the belt also with the new ownership take over things are looking a bit better but we not there yet ,

Pros: Great opportunity for development and gain an opportunity quick to become permanent
Cons: Opportunity to gain a promotion is very slender
