I am greatful for the professional exposure I obtained from the SABC over two decades.

I have pressure to perform on a daily basis. Planning for up coming assessments, following up on progress on mitigation, attend management meetings in order to identify and advice management on emerging risks and to report on progress on mitigation of risks to date. I am at peace with all team workers and with all my stakeholders from divisional Group Executives to the cleaner and security guard. I have learnt to create an atmosphere with clients which is conducive to easy access and access to information and possible engagement on business matters for mutual benefit towards the achievement of the corporation's objectives. I enjoyed writting monthly and quarterly reports and the achievement of desired results. The unavailability of clients in order to conduct risk assessments was a serious challenge especially with the purpose of meeting my key performance deliverables as per the operational plan so as to achieve the department's strategic objectives.

Pros: Learning the business at each strategic and operational risk assessment.
Cons: Conducting operational risk assessments eight hours a day for five full five days.

DRIVING A 50 YEAR OLD INSTITUTION TOWARDS SELF-SUSTAINABILITY

Diverse Stakeholders mapping and response. Business Development and new client value propositions crafting. Excellent co-worker relations. Most challenging is balancing government policy with other stakeholders need. Learnt the difficulty to implement with speed within a Bureaucracy. Launched new products and value propositions that responded to a need within the corporate sectors. The role allowed me to integrate the disciplines of Marketing, Communication, Corporate Affairs alongside a business development strategy. The Institute currently shows a financial sustainability model up to 2024 due to R160m investment secured from public-and private sector based on he new Innovation and Design Entrepreneurship value propositions created.

Pros: Socio-Economic impact by setting the foundations. Provided an opportunity to integrate my private and public sector experience.

Excellent platform for knowledge transfer

My typical work day involves engaging with clients developing of their SHEQ management systems. Working for such a diverse environment which is also technically inclined, as employees of the organization embrace team work and good working relationship with co-workers so as to learn from one another in order to ensure proper knowledge transfer and management. Working for the SABS has taught me so many skills around standards in organizations and their economic impact. One of the most enjoyable aspect of my job is exposure to different environments. I keep abreast of different industries’ technology and market, relevant regulatory and statutory requirements in order to align the developed management systems to the organization’s operations. Some of the challenging aspects of my job involve travelling which can be too much at times as our clients are national.

Pros: Great prospects for growth
Cons: Too much travelling
