I am writing to you to express my interest in the Production supervisor position is currently available at your Local Municipality. I have worked with the following companies (Worley Parsons (Pty) Ltd, Doron construction (Pty) Ltd, Tango’s Consultant (Pty) Ltd, SRK CONSULTING (Pty) Ltd) and South Zambezi Engineering Services (Pty) Ltd) as a civil engineering technician for the last 8 years. My key role with the company was to assist the civil engineers and project managers. Our project included planning, maintenance and designing of mining, water and waste treatment plant, dams, culverts, bridges, bulk pipeline and roads. I am a great team player and can collaborate with supervisors and contractors. I have strong written and verbal communication skills and planning skills. I am highly oriented and good with dexterity work. I have been recognized in my company because of my excellent critical thinking, problem solving skills and managing time well.

Learning curves, challenges, what I enjoy about the position

1. To lead, develop and maintain SHEQ management programmes 2. Determines the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the Factory and Sites SHEQ management programme and systems. 3. Acts as Site “Dangerous Goods” Safety Advisor 4 Instilling the reasonable care for the health and safety to all employees 5. Act as mediator on SHEQ issues between Management and employees 6. Being visible and accessible to all employees Learnt lessons 1. System frequent audits strengthens the system 2. Be able to interact with people at all levels Changes 1. Transition of the legislation changes 2. Demonstration of huge continuous improvement on the maintained system, at times through complacency organisations management systems do outgrown the audit/certification process or have lost their ability to drive improvement 4. Developing ways to next level or re-energize existing management system and certification processes

I am looking forward to new ventures as challenges keep me on my toes.

A typical day at my employment is to check on the previous or current SHEQ non performances, customer complaints etc and do a follow up. Attending meeting with the relevant HOD to couch, provide guideline on complaint issues. Regular consultations with the Top management regarding performances of the SHEQ system including checks on strategic plan statuses. Consultation with Top management regarding new legislation and its implications to the business. I work with Top Management, Senior , middle management and employees. I have about 6 subordinates in the team which almost share all function irrespective of their job portfolio. .

Pros: People Management. It’s difficult to keep track and fast track perfromances if other HOD are not perfroming therefore performance being depended on people sometimes can be an issue. Interpersonal skills therefore should become handy empathy
Cons: enjoy working with people and forever changing legislation

Excellent problem solver

Troubleshoot any related problems about technology based products and services. Helping co-workers and end-users with solutions regarding problems they usually encounter since most of them are not familiar with technical terms. Update anti-virus and installation of drivers, windows and Software. Problem solving of errors like printing, booting, email and connection of Wi-Fi errors.
