Excellent learning opportunity.

Working at STANLIB Investments in more two different departments has afforded me the opportunity to learn more about the company and the important of the various departments' liaising with each other. I learned to work well with different types of people. The most challenging aspect about the jobs I have done in the various departments is that we need help from colleagues in other departments, in order to complete our own work. This then turns to an advantage as it teaches on to learn to work well in a team and even with different types of people.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning about asset management
Cons: Working with others sometimes comes with disappointments. Not everybody takes their job as seriously as you would expect.

Learning curve

currently eomployed since 2015 prior to that i was at momentum asset management for a period of 3 yearsas a portolii analyst more focused on fixed income.i have about 10 years industry experience in the asset management feild. we are a team of about 15 people split into 3 teams analytics perfomance and risk and all have different strong qualities. What i have learnt so far from the industry is communication is key and always staying abreast of any changes happening in the market.Asking when not clear and building relationships with other teams.

Pros: building relationships and loving the work i do
Cons: sometimes data is not correctly updated on the system which then leaves one with i correct information
