I am on a contract basis who deals with the different department within the Municipality. I'm also assisting my employer with her duties such as Monthly reports, arranging of meetings ect. I like to learn from different departments within the Municipality which give me a clear understanding of what we do for our community. I came with a positive mind as to encourage people to love what you do and be good worker for there is responsibilities.I enjoy being with my co-workers who has a goal in life, to overcome their challenges. I have learned that nothing comes easy that we have to work hard to be successful in what you do.

I am someone who like a challenge, to express myself to what I do best
I like to work with various people in order to learn their doing as well as many other directorates within the Municipality. I always come with a positive mind and encourage co-workers. I am helpful and can work during heavy times.I love working with people who make the environment easy to work in. I enjoy interacting with various contractors and departments. I have learnt that nothing comes easy in life, to give your best in anything you do.

Stellenbosch Municipality in a nutshell
It is a municipality that has lots of opportunities for creative solutions, which will make it a leading light of municipalities in the country. Unfortunately, this sentiment is not well received by conservative mindsets and doomsayers, but despite their presence, lots have been achieved and can still be done to realise that vision. Lots of challenges have been addressed that I encountered when arriving here, such as converting a dump into a proper sanitary landfill site, pursuing renewable energy from methane gas, first pilot in the Western Cape to make Compressed Earth Blocks for buildings from builders' rubble and clay, etc. Although seen as a maverick by peers, the external environment has been very complementary on achievements to date. Poor staff morale from workers have been overturned by providing proper leadership and respect.

I work with people of different ages everyday. My IT background improved.
A typical work day from 8 am to 16:30 pm. I enjoyed answering the phone, assisting people. I have learned to accept failure and get up again and try and achieve more. We had a great loving environment as well as a great relationship with each other at work.

Excellent learning curve
It is a great experience to work with people from different back grounds. I have a good relationship with co-workers we treat each other fair. I learnt to deal with different people with different attitudes, learnt how to handle a pressure also learnt how to work independently and problem solver. I like to interact with people and provide more information to our clients about our company. Is to decide who is the best candidate for a certain post.

Excellent
A typical work day include site visits,meetings, administration work which include compilation of tender documents, tender evaluation, certifying invoice submitted by contractors and other service providers. I have a good relationship with my colleagues and we work as a team. I enjoy assisting communities residing in informal settlements in order for them to get houses and provide dignified living. Politics are daily challenges but I manage.

Not knowing if you have a job tomorrow
I have a good relationship with all my co-workers. Working at the municipality taught me to stand up for myself. It gave me self confidence. I enjoy working with the public. The most challenging aspect of my job is the fact the I am on contract and they can chase me away at anytime with all the conflict in the ruling political party. My contract is link to my bosses term in office. If they get rid of him I am gone also.

Im a fast learner
1st thing go fetch files from the other office, walk to the post office to post letter. Do filing opening new files answering phones and assist town planners with files. updating the system if new files came in.
