Brilliant corporate experience

Toyota is built on 3 pillars, continuous improvement, teamwork and respect for people. This is practiced by all employees permanent, temps or contractors of all ranks. Training and development is extremely busy on any day. I had the opportunity to learn new skills and also working in a diverse environment. I gained knowledge of SAP as well. I was also allowed to view tasks in various ways to create ways of doing the same thing in a way that was simpler for me to adapt to, this is continuous improvement. The teams I worked with were engages, always assisting other members in achieving their goals. Employee engagement is given ultimate attention.

Pros: Permanent employees have huge field for growth, the sky is the limit iro development.Brilliant learning environment. One learns how to work with different types of people, different behaviours are adapted to.
Cons: Difficult to get permanent. Contracts can go on for years.

Doors opened through learning curves

I negotiate for the needs of employees, and be a mediator between the employees and employer for communication purposes. I deal also with personal challenges that employees are facing with and keep their issues secretly. I learned that people are not familiar with policy issues and an employer must communicate/get employee informed and it is the responsibility of an employer to prioritise the safety environment for workers. The harmonious relationship at the workplace should be the lifestyle to everyone. I enjoy work with people be it in a form of counselling, educating, make peoples's life better through training and developing. People enjoy growth economically, academically and in professionality. Poor communication and poor planning are most challenging aspects in my job and have bad effects/results. Sharing of information is the key and makes everyone plan accordingly.

Pros: I will educate myself so that promotion will not only relie on performance but even in qualifications.
Cons: 8 hours and working overtime when necessary.

Great start to my career

I have been working as an Apprentice for more than 3 years till present and I excel in communication skills and able to workwell with or without supervision. I see myself as a hard working individual and also a proactive team player. I am used to working under pressure and I never give up on a task until it is finished or a problem at hand is resolved. I am always up for a new challenge. I am a person who is willing to learn new things that will help me and the company grow and also assist the others with a bit of knowledge obtained over the years. Even with any kind of failure that I may experience in my life, I never give up, I always pick myself up and go back and try again until I get it right. I now work as a qualified apprentice in different plants at Toyota SA Motors learning on the job experience as a millwright candidate.

Pros: Willing to learn and upgrade my knowledge and skills
Cons: Committed to whatever it takes to get the job done

Always a room for improvement.

Relationship with co-workers they are friendly and always willing to help where they can. The discipline that as an engineer you go and see for yourself before reporting on something, go and touch and feel the part.

Pros: Discipline
Cons: Lack of diversity

Learning curve

It was a good working environment the people were always supportive they believed on one team one gaol I guess that's why I enjoyed working at Toyota SA Motors. I've learned a lot base on my training as Millwright Apprentice. I learnt how to work on speed, do counter measures and continuous improvement at the working area. Challenges wise it was when we can't seems to find what the problem is on the machines and down time would kills us.

Pros: Promotion opportunities are there but on our field were very limited
Cons: Working hours were from 07H00 to 15H30 but as maintenance team we would work until late as required.
