!

I have a very good relationship with my co-workers, they are very friendly, easy to talk with. My manager is very supportive and always has time for everyone. He always shares his history about the company and previous companies that he has worked for, motivate us a lot. I have learnt a lot since I have joined the company, I am a team leader in our department, which made me work hand in hand with my manager. I could say that made me to understand my co-workers even more better. I have also learned to create a safe space for everyone and be reasonable to others while trying to be an eye opener, especially to those who are new in the workplace. The most challenging aspect is that sometimes the posts are not advertised and according to senior co-workers there is nothing that can be done about that except that it is more like the company culture.

Pros: Great opportunity to learn new things every day.
Cons: It is a seasonal work contract, only during registrations

Fair learning curve

my day started at 09: 00 to 5:00 which included me having responsibilities such as insuring that all the supplies were provided the company. My relationship with the co workers was an open and honest relationship. We had to work together and ensure that people in the institution were welcomed and informed about what went on in the organisation. The admin of the office was conducted by us. we had to type, print document. I really enjoyed the interaction with the people seeking help in the institution and the role of leadership i had to display. The most challenging aspect of the job was dealing with individuals that did not comprehend information well and we as the employees managed to solve the problem by being retrained to deal with this issuie

Pros: getting great comunication skills
Cons: long working hours

Great exposure to work with different stakeholders in SA,

A typical work day include, getting to the office, liaise with other 29+ UNISA regional centers regarding online signature module receive telephone calls and emails complaints from students and co-workers from regional centers and resolving them with a turnaround time of 48 hours I work well with my co-workers, whereby I support them in resolving difficult and challenging enquirers. I have learnt to rely and trust my co-workers especially after a dispensation of duties and tasks, also to work diligently and professionally at the same time managing expectations. I enjoy travelling to visit other regional centers as it gives an opportunity to engage with co-workers who I normally talk to through the phone and email, as this helps me to understand their environment and students. It is never static, it is forever evolving and changing and in with technology always moving forward, it is a challenge that actually helps me grow and adapt.

Pros: Opportunity to explore and grow as a professional
Cons: none I can think of, except I feel unappreciated

A very demanding but rewarding job.

All days include a combination of assisting people and administrative tasks. In this environment it is essential to be both a self starter and a team player. In general I have very good working relationships with my colleagues with open, honest communication and feedback. I am a good listener and am perceptive and intuitive. I have learnt to expect the unexpected and have in certain aspects of my life learnt to be more assertive than I would normally have to be. I enjoy observing the growth in students as they progress through their final year as undergraduates. Being part of this process is richly rewarding. The most challenging aspect of my current job is having to deal with an unpredictable colleague. Working at a tertiary educational institution has given me many opportunities to engage more meaningfully cross culturally and I value the discussions I have had both formally and informally with colleagues and students.

Pros: Balance between working with people and administrative tasks.
Cons: Fixed term contract with no benefits. At times unrealistic expectations from several sources.
