United Nations Reviews

Learning Curve and good exposure

A typical working day in UNFPA - Busy and always different every day. Relationships:In my position I deal with everyone in the office as I work in the Executive office. I relate with every one from lower, middle and top management level. Skills: Great communication skills:constantly liaise with country offices, Head quarters. I am managing balance among the 3 main offices. 80% I am communicating on behalf of my immediate manager (organizing, establishing relations, welcoming new colleagues and arrange their settlement, ordering new purchases). What I enjoy most is to be challenged, being involved in activities and see the end results. I like to complete any thing. I like general to work with people. I like to being occupied and always strive for the best. Challenging aspect about my job:As Region we have to strike a balance to ensure we meet each office requirements. Also to keep control in the office - as dealing with different individual.

Pros: Great Exposure
Cons: rapid changes

N/a

Great organisation The role not permanent role to enable stability for one's future. That is my only concern. A typical work day is full of new learning - My relationship with co-workers is great and solid - I have learnt humility - I enjoy most and what would be a great day to me would be once I have helped a human being - The most challenging aspects of the job is having to deal with fragile women and children daily Regards

Pros: exposure
Cons: long working hours

Working with diverse cultures

Continously monitoring vendors perfomance based on their submitted Quality control programmes. Working with a diverse cultural team with different backgrounds and from different countries. Respect for diversity, learning to respect people'say ideas and opinions as well as gender parity.

Pros: Great career growth, continuous trainings for all employees
Cons: Working in a war torn country and away from the family
