Handled the merger and now run the finance function

I do the entire finance function as well a manage the IT and HR and Payroll departments. This includes inter alia all parts of working capital management, namely inventory, debtors and creditors. I liaise with all service providers namely the banks for facilities and forecast, auditors and attorneys. The sales include approximately 25% exports so there is foreign exchange involvement. Furthermore I present the company on a number of levels including on the Board of subsidiaries. My involvement range from getting into the detail as well as deal with the strategic vision of the company at Board level. Since the merger the company grew it's turnover 5 fold in a very tight market. The work is demanding but very satisfying.

Pros: Multi level involvement and working with entrepeneurs.
Cons: Shareholders do not live up to promises.

Learning curve

overall the company is ok. typical work day is always busy. thats a good thing. some co-workers are better to work with than others. learnt not to lose myself in work place culture.

I enjoy working at Allied Steelrode.

I really enjoy working at Allied Steelrode I enjoy my work and take pride in doing my work I also get on very well with all other employees. I have learnt some extra points regarding my job description. the company is very busy so I have a lot of work every day and I enjoy that as I keep busy at all times.

Cons: no growth oppertuinity

Challenges with unpredictable human behaviours

No support from superiors, one only gets to get attention from superiors when something wrong happened.My current employer is Allied Steelrode and I have been with the company for 7 years 6 of which I have been working night shift only and I need more of a rotational shift arrangement which is highly unlikely as none of colleagues on my level is willing to work. My personality does not align with the company culture of recruitment and promotion procedures.

Cons: Racial discrimination
