When i started working in the company i knew nothing about administration but i learnt how to manage files, answer phones in a mannerly way, respect for people, always open to give a helping hand when needed and i learnt how to treat and behave around people who are greater than me.

Pros: I had a great opportunity of growing and life balance

Great learning curve

I had an amazing working experience with my mentor and co-workers at the department. Learning new methods, interacting with great minds and experiencing to work with new machineries/equipment at the department. Finding new methods on previous articles on how to improve our research product was abit of a challenge but a very educational one, having to employment some of the I formation found on the internet to our method to improve our research findings was challenging. Having to interact with Dr's with the different research focuses they did on their PhD degrees was an awesome experience, how they interacted with each other on a level I could never imagine was an awesome experience.

Pros: Great working environment
Cons: Doing several trials on different methods

Excellent experience

As a lab assistant, I handle students enquiries regarding technical issues. I deal with different students on a daily basis. Having students as co-workers is rather exciting because we understand each other and are able to relate to each other's struggles. I have learned to be more patient and understanding and I enjoy seeing new faces every day. The most challenging aspect of the job is when you are being disrespected by other fellow students when you assist them. Having to remain calm and handle the situation wisely.

Pros: Best enhance personal skills
Cons: Having to relocate

I worked as a scala backend developer

I worked as a scala backend developer at the kujali hub unit in Cape Peninsula University of Technology. What happens is we get to do internal applications for their school and also for companies outside the university like mutsepe foundation, health department. What I did was I created the back end code like the domain packages and class and also I created the repository and services. The application uses a cockroach db for the database since I come from coding in Java. I learnt Scala was not too different to some people even though I felt it was too simple at times. Working in an open place allowed our mentors to interchange us to also work on the front end part of the application so that we can experience using angular and Go. As a team we had to reconnect every morning and do scrum meetings and look back on the wrk.

Pros: New techonologies, Solving problems, collaboration, coming up with great product. Mentorship
Cons: Unclear instructions, working with a Proxy Server
