Growth opportunity

When I get to work the first I do is check the SAP system for any notifications that might have been loaded at night. After that we have a departmental morning meeting where by we discuss plant issues, notifications and work orders. I also supervise contractors when there is any work that they are busy with. I attend outage meeting to find out which spares are needed at the plant and engage with procurement to procure them. My colleagues and I work as a team to achieve a common goal. I learned that good communication between colleagues is essential to create an environment where everyone will show their full potential. I enjoy working as a team because I get to learn things from other people which I had no knowledge of. The challenging aspect of my job is working with suppliers who don't have technical knowledge.

Pros: Great opportunity to be exposed to doing work being done by my seniors.
Cons: No promise of being hired permanently

Learning new things each and everyday that are productive

Working at Eskom as a trainee was a challenge at first as I was new from university and I wasn’t used to the working environment. But since a mind is the greatest tool that can do everything for as long as you tell yourself to do so. I got used to the environment and how it can change an individual into a well disciplined one and making sure that every task given to me is done before the given time frame. Team work is the greatest thing that can make the company to grow and result it with a good production. Since workers are working towards one thing of which is making sure that the company is recognized and grows everyday, we need to have a good relationship. I enjoy new challenges as the tests my vocabulary. Confidence and preparation is the best tool that keeps me going.

Pros: I can get to use the knowledge and skills i learned here elsewhere
Cons: Eskom doesn’t grand any permanent since it’s undergoing financial issues

Best part of my job is the great people i get to work with an the customers i get to please.

It is the best company to work for,i have learn a lot from dealing with different kind of people old and young, suppliers and manufactures. what i enjoy most is being able to add value at the running of the station, where by i make sure that i order good quality and in time for the end-users and engineers to be able to perform their duties in time and with resources. on a daily basis i put PRs on SAP,i place orders,I expedite orders and i fax RFQs to suppliers and also make sure that the suppliers understand the scope or the description of the goods that i need. My relationship with my co-workers is good because we respect each other,we plan correctly and we sometimes help each other as we have a common goal. The most challenging aspect of my Job is when the end-user did not plan properly for the order and i have to pull strings to make it happen in time

Pros: Great opportunity to learn and experience the different types of orders
Cons: Overtime

I really love to see people prospering or getting satisfaction at what they do.
