KEEPING LIGHTS ON
I work as Project Coordinator for Eskom Telecommunication. It is such a humbling experience to be part of a team and company that seeks to delivery electricity to every industry and household in our country. We work in a project environment where schedules and deadlines are the daily bread. Yet the team spirit and leadership enables everyone to be the best they can be. This environment has learn me the that communication is key in helping to achieve the desired results, be it in electronic, verbal or on paper format. The most thing i enjoy about the project environment is to realise the deliverables, celebrating success and joy that it brings to the user/client. One of the most challenging part for me would be contract management, which may include procurement of goods that has potential to delay the project.

Good foundation for the next big thing
I have no challenges with being female in a male dominated working environment. I earned the respect of my colleagues through hard work. Believing in max 30 min meetings sets an understanding that the production orientated culture through out the teams is important.
Pros: Site based offices.

I have completed my National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation) at Tshwane South Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, I have completed my Basic Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) at PLC Centre-THS Pretoria Gardens. I have completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management (NQF Level 8) at MANCOSA.

Gaining Experience
I have good relationship with my colleagues, we are in constant communication as they have to give me their monthly reports on their projects so I can update it on the system. I have learnt how to work under pressure and keep focus especially in the beginning of the new project. The most challenging aspect of the jobs is when people hand in the documents that have to be signed late and they expect it ASAP.

Excellent leaning curve ,fountain of knowledge,best opportunities
i have learnt plant optimization and testing performance of boiler.planning projects and maintenance work.i have gained more skills on quality control measures and report writing. Working at ESKOM help me understand all the theory and knowledge i acquired from my university.I have also learnt inventory,store management and how to work in any environment under pressure.I enjoyed travelling to different power stations and my challenges were working at hazardous conditions .My relationship with my co workers was excellent although we there were conflicts,we never stopped achieving the goals of the day.

Excellent learning curve
My work day is hectic as I have to oversee construction activities driving timelines ensuring safe execution of activities and all within cost and quality, There are a lot of service provides so a lot of integration. I work with different people from different countries so communication is key. I have been in project management so I have come to understand the importance of people relationships to get things done. I also work in a multi disciplinary environment continuously learning about the different disciplines. Challenging the most is the integration of the many service providers working on site, ensuring everyone achieves the target dates. Also challenging is the management of claims from the service providers.
Pros: Great opportunity to strengthen my project/construction management skills.
