Sasol Reviews

It will be a great learning curve in a different sector I have never been exposed to before.

It was a totally new environment when I first joined. It's bigger that what I was used to. There was a lot of exciting things to learn and the company is involved in different products you cannot even think of when you are outside of it. In my experience I get to interact with different internal customers and try and solve some of their learning as well as health and safety (since it's in our space) related queries. I liaise with the line managers of different divisions on matters related to the STIs (short term incentives) they are responsible for. Because of being responsible to work with the STI dashboard, I have managed to build relationships with the different stakeholders that i collect the information from for my monthly reporting.

Pros: It is a great organisation to work for, it allows a person to learn so much from one organisation with different functions.
Cons: It's a long distance from my house to work

Love work it's my way of life

Daily basis morning meetings, we discussed everything from yesterday, safety concerns what we can improve on to make our lives easer and safer before the close of the meeting we would watch a Video to lighten the mood and few laugher. Then everyone has to go to there area fro morning inspection it's a petro chemical plant how you left the plant yesterday might be different today. Then coffee break for 15min with all everyone at the same time then share laughers its just a fun environment no issues with anyone. It's close relationship, learnt how important it is to have a good working relationship with my co-workers it makes it delightful to come to work everyday plus doing what you love in a healthy environment. Start up of the plant after shutdown five weeks of 7-19hrs everyday plus weekends and the plants starts giving problems meaning more money is being lost then made but yes problem are always solved

Pros: Good working ethics
Cons: 12 for 5 weeks only one day off

Great Exposure

Experiencing some busy times inclusive of overtime at some point on projects and back to normal times where mostly task are done in a routine style. Team players working environment and brother's keeper driven working culture, knowledge and skills sharing work place. Seed multiplying attitude; self developing from the already given skill; and advancement. Positively do more than expected and excelling attitude. Fair treatment; fair play all the time and acknowledgement where practicably applicable. Encouragements and rewards are crucial within the working environment. The most challenging part of the job is to be singled out and entrusted with more critical projects, the best as well as excellent results are anticipated from the project leader.

Pros: Skills and Development attainment
Cons: Reasonable working hours per Month

Excellent technical skills

Daily cost management. Sharing ideas and information with colleagues. I have learnt to be patient with people without putting quality of work and timely reporting thereof at risk. I enjoy the company of the team and providing technical training thereto. I look forward to our weekly staff meetings with and monthly chit-chats with the CFO. I intact with a lot of people and like do things in an orderly manner. So it is challenging at times to get others to work orderly.

Pros: Continously learning from the interaction with different talented people
Cons: Long working hours during budget times

Fast learner, lover challenges willing to learn anything

A typical work day for me as a buyer is to action all my request, negotiate pricing with suppliers, place orders using correct qty, pricing, delivery date and incoterm. My relationship with my co workings is awesome. My challenges at work is to make sure that I buy the correct item, on correct price, for the lowest price possible but at the best quality. I love making jokes with my team and try to keep every one positive.

Pros: Work with lots of different people
Cons: Not very challenging anymore for me
