From a Junior buyer to a Procument Manager in 10 years.
I'm an Acting Procurement Manager at Transnet Property. On a typical day I start at 06h30 checking on what was left undone the day before. From then I carry on with needs to be done for the day, like checking on the project progress and attending to meetings. I currently have a staff complement of 5 people reporting directly to me. 3 do the Operational works (OPEX) and the 2 are responsible for all the capital projects (CAPEX). The daily challenges of good reporting, meeting timelines and different characters are some of my learning experiences I had. I really enjoy the different dynamics brought by each project I deal with. Also the different individual characters bring out the best in how each day will pen out. Some of the best days are when I have to travel for site visits as well as for project handovers. I get that sense of satisfaction from seeing the projects I started having been completed.
Pros: I'm currently acting and hope to be appointed asap.
Cons: The scrutiny that is put on Procurement can sometimes be overwhelming.

Good split of office word and field work (In fact you plan your day as you feel it would work better for you, with accommodating meeting) Most conducive area for learning and implementing new things. Every great relationship with co-workers. Flexibility and more opportunities Department is short staffed

First I am a hard worker in the job And I have good communication in ower members of the job so I have good idea about any job.I was done metric I was doing maths and physics Where solve problems so I think that am free about solving something so in the work am be free I don't have a presure because pressure is a confusion in our time

Adaptive and willing to learn
I have 3 safely excellence awards for a good safety record for me and my team. 9years experience as a safety inspectorate and a safety specialist. One of my outputs is to do incident reviewes , risk assessments, incident investigations.

Excellent and great learning curve
Transnet is a company which gives an individual great exposure and experience. It has excellent on job training and courses which one attends through filling an individual development plan every year.

I an learning a lot everyday
I joined Business Connexion on the 11 November 2004 and I was working as a buyer until 30 April 2013. Then on the 02 May 2013 I joined Transnet as a senior Buyer and I am currently working for Transnet. I work with tenders and managing the contracts. My relationship with my colleagues is good and we share ideas on daily basis
