Excellent learning curve

I used to work there as a vacation student engineer and the employees and employers were good to me.we had a good colleague relationship. Have learnt more about the maintenance department and I really enjoyed it. It’s a men dominating field but I felt very much welcomed.

Pros: The company enrolled me in January and has exposed me into different areas of work.
Cons: I am working 8 hours shift from Monday to Friday

Award winning performance

Great opportunity to interact with employees. Implementation of SHEQ Objectives and Targets. Systems audits and inspections. Incident reporting and innvestigations. Sharing lessons learned with employees and contractors to improve performance. Learned a lot through integrating SHEQ Systems with Lean Six Sigma to help reduce waste and improve productivity.

Exellent leaning curve

I have a good relationship with all my culeques . I also try to finish my work on it. to be productive as possible as I can. to assist my coluques and to stay positive at all the time. I always try to come with solution rather than creating problems. I ask where I do not understand I always try to be honest with everyone.

Logistics

Motivation: Deployment of rail resources to housekeeping during shunting intervals was my innovation which I was rewarded for it by the Terminal Manager. I have been awarded as a shift Planner of the year in 2010. I am always available and willing to assist new planning members at planning section in terms orientating them and bringing to required understanding of planning at DCT Pier 2 in order for the deliver required results

It was a experience and a learning curve

Working at Transnet has been incredible, the environment is friendly and my co-worker we have a good relationship and we work together even if you do not understand something they help you.what I enjoy is creating a new filling system for my department. Challenge that I met i had to learn and work with people from a different background cultures,I had to learn their culture so that we can work together

As a hard worker, I don't have a problem working in a team.

This company that I'm currently at, it's one that gave me so much skill and enhanced knowledge The thing is right is they don't hire so I'm looking forward to work and gain more knowledge somewhere else.in me.

My responsibilities varied through executing hardware and train control and monitoring of systems RPM Routine Preventative Maintenance,CPM CORRETIVE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, of MAB's,major breakdown,minor breakdown fault finding and maintenance and installation of railway signal equipment and supervision.

Great opportunity to experiment and develop digital

Transnet is a company that is slowly moving forward. It is however constrained by state owned entity politics. There are opportunities for excellence but the pace is slow.

I am able to use my own initiative

I typical day at work is doing technical risk assessment that takes 3 conservative days. I have a good relationship with my co-worker, we work as a team. I learnt to communicate with different people at different levels in the organisation. I enjoy doing awareness and training.

Pros: I am promoted to be leading the YPT team
Cons: working in the unsafe environment
