Afrocentric is A key player in medical aid administrators.
I gained experience in Clinical claims processing in a managed care environment . It is a highly pressurized Statistics / Quantity-Driven Environment , with various quality assessors and analysts; who oversee via reports daily on ones quantity and quality report coded claims.Hospital groups and private service providers claims are processed/ assessed against the limited medical benefits , which can be a challenge if inexperienced. Positive skills sets include working well with people , problem solving, data analysis and data capture. Other medical areas of expertise necessary, comes from clinical experience e.g pharmaceuticals, nursing, surgical sundries ,makes the work manageable. Computer literateracy is required with Microsoft word, excel and outlook skills recommended.
Pros: Co -workers have similar medical qualifications and experience.
Cons: Daily High output demands can sometimes cause stress.

My journey in Medscheme
I started as a credit control intern in Afrocentric health (previously Medscheme) in the Bonitas Department in 2013 with little experience and big expectations. As time went by, my experience grew and my expectations grew even bigger. My main duties at the time was to identify member payments, allocate the payments and provide discrepancies reports. I thought that was it but I soon realized there is more to credit control than that. For me, credit control involves daily interactions with stakeholders and working in sync with colleagues to achieve joint organizational objectives. It also involves adhering to and applying, without bias, credit control policies and mandates to all daily functions. This proves to be challenging without in-depth knowledge.
Pros: Great opportunities for growth, great work environment, wellness benefits
Cons: Hours, no flexibility

Review Summary
My typical work day starts with a good coffee at 7am :-). I travel 45 minutes to work and once I get here I switch on and attend to emails and admin. I look at my day plan and then I get started. I get quite a lot done before 08h30 when the office start to buzz with activity. The office is open plan which can sometimes be distracting but it mostly productively interactive. I get on famously with my colleagues and often have to stand up to offer hugs. My development over the past few years was focused on emotional intelligence and I have made great progress. I enjoy the fact that at any given point in my life, no matter how much knowledge and shills I have amassed, I still have the curiosity and zest to learn more. Warm Regards Navomi Naidoo 082 578 3610
