Excellent Learning Curve
A typical day starts at )8:00 in the morning and ends at 16:00 in the afternoon. The day encompass the evaluation of various land development applications and provision of town planning professional advice to various stakeholders including the Head of Department and the Member of Executive (MEC). Everyday one gets to learn a new thing as the profession is dynamic in nature and that there is a new law in place, the new law has brought meaningful changes in the profession. What I enjoy most about what I do is the need to apply one's mind and skills and expertise to arrive at a solution that best suit everyone. This is not an easy task as there are different needs for different stakeholders.

Great opportunity to be exposed at. Good personal development and training. A space for learning
My last job was an excellent learning opportunity and I developed my skills and experience in numerous different ways. While I already had strong IT skills, I didn’t have any previous experience of Microsoft Access. When my employer introduced a new order management system which used Access they gave me the opportunity to undertake additional training so as to be able to work effectively with this. I was then able to put this training into practice on a day-to-day basis and I am now extremely adept at using the package. I also learned a great deal about handling customers. My previous roles were not customer-facing so it was great to have the chance to develop this area of my experience.
Pros: Stability and Flexibility
Cons: slow salary growth and low level of control

An everyday working enviroment with a positive attidutes towards life
A typical day would start with checking the closing of tenders or formal quotations that are closing on that particular day in order to prepare the necessary documentation required for closing. You communicate with co-workers in relation to the approval of the Request For Quotations because of segregation of duties with regard to the system. The most important things that I have learnt is interaction with the internal stakeholders and give more clarity in terms of SCM processes and procedures to them. I enjoy sharing information in terms of the policies relating to SCM however the most challenging aspect is when stakeholders don't take or utilize those advices which in most cases lead to irregular expenditures that SCM should be accountable for.
Pros: There are times when you have to deal with difficult clients
Cons: Good working spirit amongst ourselfves as employees

Great working experience in lots of components within the department.
I got to be exposed to the real corporate environment and I got to work with high profile people in high profile positions.Learnt how to behave in meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops. How to take minutes and write reports. I learnt how to deal with unpleasant staff members and difficult management.I learnt that you can't just say you don't know something when someone needs your help but instead you refer them to someone who may be able to assist.I learnt about the importance of listening and paying attention to detail at all times.I found out that I am a peoples person and love interacting with all kinds of people and got great satisfaction when I could help them.the most challenging was dealing with people who are ignorant and are more focused on counting the years of service than proving a good service.
Pros: being exposed in more than one component within the department and absorbing as much knowledge about admin and service as i could.
Cons: none

I have been in the contract since 2009 focusing on research for government.
I have been a contract worker since 2009. I conduct research for government. AS I conduct my research I have built some sound relationships with national stakeholders, municipalities and traditional councils. I have learned a lot about the managing operations, research, collaborations, stakeholder management, facilitation of workshops and meetings, project management, strategic planning, performance management of the organisation, institutional arrangement. I enjoy working with the team, collaborating with stakeholders, organising partnerships, managing change in the diverse environment, team building. The challenge I experienced was regard to the managing diversity in the work environment which also helped me to improve in that aspect.
Pros: As a contract work there was no opprotunity for promotion
Cons: Well the contract detailed the number of hours I was supposed to work. However, when there was a need for long hours I was able to execute my job with no problems.

AREA TO EXPRESS MY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Open area to work at. Arranging and having meetings with suppliers and clients, attending calls, resolving technical problems. Assisting each other where help is needed, projects get delivered in time. There are lot of things I've been doing in a short period of time as the CIO's Acting Personal Assistance, like drafting submissions for HoD's approval, managing projects, handling calls, Good way of communicating with happy and angry users. I enjoy attending meetings that's where we give out options that will build the company. When it comes to no internet in the building and the problem is with the suppliers that's become a problem. If the suppliers are not attending to the call we have to drive to suppliers and left my duties on hold in the office.
Pros: Great opportunity for a new career
Cons: overworking
