Department of Defence Reviews

Excellent learning curve

Working in the public sector up to now has a good learning experience for me and a suitable manner to enter the working world as a graduate. A typical day on the job involves capturing banking details of suppliers on the department systems as well as attending to and assisting suppliers with any queries regarding their banking details. I work really well with my co-workers as a team as i am learning something new from them, such as how to deal with supplier queries over the telephone and exactly how the systems of government operate with regards to employing a private company to do a particular job for the department.

Pros: great learning experience and exposure to job opportunities in the public sector.
Cons: work becomes routine after a few months.

In 2013 I would assist the resource manager with logistics and procurement until 2014 when I was moved from students admin to the nursing college logistics bdepartment were I have been in operations till now.

Pros: I have utilised the knowledge I had to further my studies. The learning never ends you learn communication skills
Cons: The fact that men still look down on women doing the same work.

Great opportunity

I am a dedicated, hardworking, disciplined person, and self-starter who set high goals and objectives with my area of operation. My aim in the workplace is to always display a positive approach to the company’s business as well as to achieve personal growth and job satisfaction. A noble working environment brings out the best in me but not in a sense of comfortability, I prefer an environment that challenges my abilities and compels me now and again to bring out my unfound qualities. I’m a person that takes my job and given tasks very seriously and I always strive for excellence and trying to avoid giving up. I am not perfect in many ways, but I always aim to give out perfection.

Pros: great opportunity
Cons: long hours

Time management, Work well under pressure and being able to have a positive impact on the workflow

It is always and previlidge waking up every morning to do work for the Department of Defence. It is a huge organisation to work for and comes with a lot of pressure and demands with it having to work with different mindsets and opinions. That makes me grow as a creative having to learn and polish up my skills by considering how to do work or go a different path with different clients, now I am able to become familiar with the Department of Defence and SANDF environment and learnt that my creative contribution has a positive impact on the workflow. I have also learnt that I work pretty well with the creative team as much as I can alone and I have developed my Layout capabilities.

Pros: I have the confidence that I can be an asset to any company and be able to handle big accounts to deal with clients personally.
Cons: To be working with one project for over three weeks reason being by the clients having to realise their grammar, spelling mistakes or regular changes of titles which kill time.
