My average day at work
The day starts by reviewing the previous day. Look at the challenges the previous day presented. Determine if they have been resolved, and if not why. I then look at the health status of the plant; if there are challenges I log them into my plan In conjunction with the above information, I review my plan to see if there are any urgent issues. Then I do my routine work in the plant identifying key issues for resolution. This gives me the opportunity to directly interact with level 1 personnel who also gives me the feedback about the status of the plant from their own perspective Then it is problem solving meeting and strategic planning meeting. In between these meeting I resolve issues in the plant, with suppliers or customers; constantly updating my plan at the same time. I have a beautiful relationship with my coworkers. I forever learn new things about myself, my work, and employees. I have really managed to curve a trusting relationship with them throughout the years
Pros: Good work culture and responsive top management
Cons: Little room for improvement

Good company in terms of exposure to different things
A typical day at Hulamin involves interactions with shoo floor employees through mini business units, facilitation of problem solving sessions, conducting risk assessment/planned job observations. I have learnt that involvement of shop floor employees when making changes and improvements improves the relationship and saves a lot of time, reworking and actually helps to get the best solutions. I love interacting with employees to understand what they require to achieve targets and to ensure they also understand what is expected from them. I also enjoy the projects I lead or get involved in in order to improve recoveries/quality, safety, cost and throughput. This is quite challenging as the expectations keep rising. But it is good and refreshing to get different ideas from the team.
Pros: Great place to learn, OK salaries and wages
Cons: Long working hours, Poor coaching

Looking for change of industry.
- Typical work day would involve interaction with artisans in terms of giving technical advise on daily problems. - I work excellently with people and have never encountered any politically issues or problems. - I have learnt that if no matter how low or high your position is, you can get anybody to help you as long as the approach is good. - I enjoy passing on knowledge and making tasks easy for everyone because it also makes my job easier. - When you have to apply consequence management but eventually it must happen.
Pros: There is more to be explored and gained in the future.
Cons: Still room for improvement on overall performance.

Great experience
A typical work day starts at 7:00 am with feedback session from the security guards and updates of any incidents during the night shift aswel as any positive alcohol tests at the gate. Followed by meeting with the on-site clinic nurse to finalize planned medicals for the day. Daily random walks in the plant to ensure compliance to all safety rules. Meetings with supervisors to gain knowledge on what s happening on the shop-floor and review all risk assessments, PJO's, daily checklists and safety talks completed. A great relationship with co-workers is mandatory as trust is vital the SHE department and shop-floor employees. I've learnt different communication skills, especially with different age groups. Interaction with shop stewards and negotiation skills with union members regarding new safety standards/policies.
Pros: Great opportunity to become manager
Cons: Lack of interaction between top management and shopfloor employees

Hulamin give me the oppotunity to advance my leadership skills.
my experience on the typical days in hulamin was when you receive a customer complaint of wrong colour or wrong packaging method, the first thing we needed to do was to first identify the product returned , confirm the validity of the complain, identify the shift which packed it, plan the corrective action and the date to be delivered, communicate the issue, the corrective action and the targeted date for delivery with all the relevant teams and give feedback to the customer as to when they can expect the correct product. communication plays a very important role in all relationships or teamwork, I have learned a lot in regards to technical process approach and problem solving, I enjoyed being part of the teams which had a strong relationship in team work activities, the most challenging aspect I experienced with my job was mostly when you had to deal with an employee who had a negative attitude towards their work because they were unfairly treated by their previous leaders.
Pros: Personal Growth(career)
Cons: Dealing with non supportive team memebers
