Excellent job

It's a good working area , the management of the company is excellent and the supervision is extremely well. When I first arrived in wasn't familiar with most of the things but they where patients with me until today I am a professional.i enjoy the team effort we put when we under pressure it shows that we are one even when we have completed our task we help those who are still behind. The most challenging part of our job is doing refurbishment when our senior are around the pressure become more, and sometimes you end up doing mistake.

Excellent learning opportunities

I have worked in the customer service inviroment for some time now and i understand that in order to survive you need to embrace all the challenges such as working under pressure and learning how to deal with stressful situations. it also helps that im organised, efficient and i take great pride in what i do.

Pros: Exposure to many grreat careers
Cons: Due to the fact that we are hired for shutdowns we dont take time off

Mechanical fitter

I'm qualified fitter section 13 with Red seal since 1999. I have experience in both conventional and trackless mining and currently I'm working as a contract worker on Eskom shutdowns. My responsibility in ensuring the work done in the Eskom generator is done according to the Clean Condition work instruction. Stripping a generator up to the stator and re assembly the unit. All standards will be provided by the OEM. With the experience in hand it always easy to adopt in new environment. The one thing that keeps a fitter satisfied is to be able to strip and assemble a machine and see the machine back in action without extra costs of time and money. Everyday should be treated as a new day with a fresh sober mind.

Great opportunity that i was given

It's the first company I started working for after my trade test I learned alot since I was fresh from my apprenticeship I gained alot of experience working in different power stations I learned alot safety rules and working as a team.

Pros: there's alot of great opportunities especially in rigging department such us LMI and co ordintors
Cons: working as contractor

Materials and harzadous chemicals handling,packing and storing and storeman work procedure

a A typical day starts with me conducting a visual checking on mechanical tools and lifting equipment to see if there's still in good working condition. Then i conduct a stocktaking of the equipment in the stores to see what is required and what is in the store. My relationship with co-workers is good given the fact that i communicate with them on a daily basis, what i enjoy the most is waking up everyday determined to do a better job than i did the day before.

Pros: great opportunity to grow in the engineering industry.
Cons: long working hours

Excellent learning curve

I work as a turbine fitter and I can also work as a fitter and turner. I would also love to learn more in mechanical field and gain more experience. Im a smart worker who also take safety first. I have gained a lot of experience in the power utility industry. I would like you to give a chance so that I can gain as much experience.

Good exposure and experience

Our job is mainly on Powerstations, team work; safety and quality work is of utmost importance. I have refined my skills in precision measuring through the years and I take pride and personal responsibility with my work

I'm a person who love people and accurate. And I learnt that do'nt for yourself only because we needs each another. I love to prays God through music. I don't like to be failer
