Excellent learning curve

What is said in the interview and what is the actual way of working are 2 very different things. Everything you do is micro managed. The managers walk up and down the isles more than being in their actual offices to check if people are chatting and having "fun", then you get disciplined (verbal warning first). If you make a mistake, you have to type an apologetic email and cc the entire company that it won't happen again.

Data capturing

I Mthobisi Cyril Junior Ngcobo(24). I studied Analytical Chemistry at Durban University of Technology and did my inservice training(1 year) at Intertek Wax Lab located in Wentworth at Engen refinery. The Intertek Wax Lab is a service provider for Sasol. The Intertek wax lab is a SANAS accredited lab which test all Sasol products and does Quality Inspection also. Daily routines was to test feed samples and final products, calibrations, data capturing using Excel and Ms Word; load road tanker(isotainers). My colleagues were very friendly and supportive. They helped me grow as a Technician and to be versatile in whatever I'm doing.

Perfect for learning

The company is great and the nature of the co-workers is very nice , people are very friendly and they are willing to assist you where you lack and teach you as many of the techniques as possible

Exposure to petrochemical activities

A very demanding environment where customer expectations are high and there is little chance for errors as this usually holds up vessels discharging leading to demurrages. I enjoy the managerial duties exposure. I have learnt a lot regarding forecasting, financial performance etc. The exposure to petrochemical activities such as testing, inspection of land tanks, rail carts and road tankers, survey of vessels etc is extensive. being exposed to health and safety is another advantage.

It was an excellent learning curve for me and further my experience in the industry.

My typical work days is dealing with people I have a great understanding with my co-workers I have learn 't to that I can be a health & safety officer and HR at the same time I enjoy working with people and I enjoy problem solving The most challenging aspects of the job is dealing with the different regions and parts of the African continents.

Cons: Extremely long working hours

Human resource management, provide direction and set team objectives, conflict management

Planning is crucial in this line of work with known priorities. That will assist in reaching set goals and targets. Care and growth are what co-workers and sub-ordinates need to create a free working environment. When the team know one cares it's easier to create line of communication where everyone can share their views. Equipping the team with with information can be theoretical and practical (training) together with necessary resources to perform their duties, they become responsible and accountable.

Cons: Away from family

Learning curve

Work is queued from call center in the UK as per exporters' request. I am based in our regional operation office in Johannesburg and offer support to our customer service consultants and issue certificate of conformity for exporters in the United kingdom. I love working a team for knowledge sharing and diversity. I have extensive knowledge on import and export law in countries like Egypt, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Customer satisfaction and total quality is what drives my work. CAP is equally challenging for the client government and the implementing agencies.

Excellent knowledge growth

It is great working here hours is challenging reason being I do not earn overtime but I do work 12 hours a day. Most challenging part for me is not growing in knowledge anymore due to me knowing my job there is also no oppertunity for growth. I enjoy working here cause its stable and secure I get a long with all my co workers
