Excellent learning curve in the mining industry

The company I currently work for is Izazi Mining Services, I work at Simunye Shaft Goedehoop for a Brown 02 section development two years project. Its a very busy work environment with a staff complement of 80 employees. I am the head of Safety in this project and I have developed a thick skin and strong Supervisory skills. My relationship with workers is quit good and it has been a challenging development since I am a female and younger than most of the people I work with, so i learned to be firm and assertive when required and I also engage and coach my team where necessary. What I enjoy the most in my job is learning from my team and also them learning from me, I enjoy being part of the solution with regards to the challenges we have faced and are still facing along the way. This project has made me a confident Safety Officer and I believe that no challenge is bigger than me.

Excellent learning opportunity

This was my best learning curve As an independent HR/ IR OFFICER because I don't have an HR manager, my relationship with other employees are so reviving- great place as the communication flows A typical day at work-responding to +- 40 emails from all the 7 sites we have, attending to injury on juries, reports of payroll, internal disciplinaries,ccma cases,union, forum meetings...i have the most incredible directors because they give opportunities for growth, independence, decision making... Most challenging aspect of my job is-unions,ccma cases, payroll because I don't have enough workforce under my office- Iam the only one in the office but I enjoy a good Challenge as long as at the end of the day iam multi-tasked I do everything in my office.

Cons: Lack of workforce
