It is a chaotic, high pressure environment with multi tasking being really important. I have learnt a lot about Africa and operations in Africa There is too much to do

Very hard work

This company requires a 24/7 commitment from its staff, requiring you to be available after hours and weekends. Enormous level of hard work required even during low season with little reward to its staff members sadly, therefore a high turnover of staff.

Pros: Lots of opportunities
Cons: Overwhelming work load and 24/7 commitment every day all day

Manager 6 years - Operations

I am a manager with 6 years experience in the operations divisions of tourism, vehicle manufacturing and corporate entertainment. Daily tasks includes overseeing on the road operations as well as ensuring budgets and maintenance procedures are adhered to. In addition I'm also responsible for the oversight and planning of new vehicle build and material acquisitions.

Pros: Challenging work environment with opportunity for continuous development and improvement of processes
Cons: 24/7 Standby for on the road report can infringe on personal life

Excellent learning curve

Chaotic, confused systems. Good conservation principles, difficult to fit in . Friendly people, inexperienced staff due to high staff turnover. Learnt about vehicles and guides and southern Africa

In the life of a Jenmanite

A normal work day would start at 8am and end at 5-5:30pm, checking tasks and mail and actioning it. Have a great relationship with my co workers. Learned how do handle the work load during season time whilst short of staff. Meeting new people and learning about the services available within the tourism industry. Workload during season times.

Excellent learning curve

It is a excellent learning curve with alot of experience gained within the company over the last 6 months. Wr have an amazing team and manager who work well together, we work with tourplan and Microsoft office. I enjoy communicating with our suppliers. The most challenging aspect of the job is having to put together tours when all our suppliers are fully booked. This is challenging, but very enjoyable at the same time.

Cons: No benefits
