Demolition is pricise and requires a safe behavior approach

My experience at Jet Demolition.

I was initially employed on a contract basis, with my first project being the controlled implosion of the fire damage Bank of Lisbon Building, Johannesburg CBD. A complete change from the norm as the final result was to get the building to collapse in on itself. Therefore, my knowledge of how buildings are designed & detailed made the learning curve of controlled demolition work a breeze. The biggest challenge for this project was the lack of adequate structural & civil information. But this was overcome by continued investigations into various elements that were set to be blasted. My detailed drawings of the existing structures were used for analysis by American & British specialist relating to implosions & vibration analysis and our final result was the successful implosion of the building. A typical day for me includes design drawings of existing structures to be demolished through blasting or mechanical methods, project planning & costing. With regular travelling to various sites locally and abroad.

Pros: Great project exposure
Cons: None really only minor bureaucratic rules
