Manganese Metal Company Reviews

Great learning curve

MMC is an interesting company to work for however adopting oversees methods of working (artisans working alone) is a safety aspect and doubles utilization time hence work load accumalating . Also not forgetting the shortage of staff in the section and it's the first company that i'm working for that i'm encountering this . In saying that , one has to perform twice as hard and in event burning oneself out to the extent that you think you are getting things done but just falling behind . A typical work day i would say is our morning meeting for about an hour , plant inspection for another hour , tea break for 10 minutes , perform task as discussed in meeting if no breakdowns are in play , lunch break at 13h00 for 30 minutes , back to task at hand , tea break at 15h00 which i never take , do housekeeping in area worked , wash up and go home at 16h00 .

Pros: None at this stage
Cons: Poor planning

Leading a team

I have learnt to work well in a team, lead a team, effective communication in a team. I enjoy meeting deadlines and facing new challenges every now and then.

Pros: Great place to learn different aspects of your job
Cons: promotions are rare

A day involved, shift hand over, planning, controlling and leading team to achieve targets.

- I would check tank levels to determine my flow rates - If flow rates change which normally do, i would adjust chemical dosages. - Prepare work permits for contractors - Check if the Lab & filtration staff are available and on time. - Ensure the instruments are calibrated and standards are acceptable before any analysis can be made. - We worked as a team with my peers, subordinates and superiors. - I enjoyed solving problems affecting the process flow and quality and teaching others. - The main challenge was the heavy rain that has always been an issue to our solution quality

Pros: Support of Management on process issues
Cons: Breakdowns and blockages as the plant is very old.
