Loved the Production of Ready to Eat Meals, as Developing new ranges. Passionate about Food Industry

Great Company to work for. But due to restructuring, my position became redundant due to outsourcing of the facility. I loved the tasks and products I had to develop and are proud to say that 7 of my products were Awarded Sunday Times Food Awards, benchmarked against opposition retailers products

Pros: I did what I truly love and are passionate about
Cons: Red tape

Excellent place to work

When I joined pick n pay I thought it was a place I can grow somewhere where, as an individual you can get opportunities but it never happened like that, if you don't have fimaly member(relative) in the company the opportunities are rare to get. Relationship with my colleagues is perfect. I learnt a lot about retail and how it works. I learnt to work with a team and as well as individual, I can work very well under pressure and I learnt how to solve problems. The most challenging in stores is when there change store managers now and then.

Pros: Great opportunity to learn about a customer
Cons: Normal working hours

Good learning environment

High pressure environment, adding stores with implementation and achievement of HR goals and objectives. Work closely with store management, ER, CoE and senior management in achievement of company goals. I have learned a lot about retail operations, such as implementation of promotions, importance of sap system in managing staff, ordering of store goods, and impact of customer service on success of any store. I enjoy with interacting with the multidisciplinary team in retail during new store openings and understanding the role each member of the team plays in ensuring a successful store opening.. The most challenging aspect of the job is maintaining a healthy work life balance. Retail requires long hours and working under pressure.

Pros: Opportunities for promotion into senior management are few as the structure gets flat, the higher you go
Cons: Long working hours, in a high pressure environment
