Knowledge in engineering survey

I was working at a construction company, am current 27 years doing btech in Surveying. I have at least 3 years experience in engineering survey and am confidant in my abilities that I have and with the experience that i have am confidant that i well be a reliable person to carry out any job given to me

Pros: I like working with surveying tools, total station, dumply level, robotic
Cons: I don't mind working long hours as long as the is progress then am happy

Great place of learning

Managing the concrete team. ? Planning, programming and supervising the gabion, stone pitching and paving sub-contractors. ? Setting up concrete structures as per drawings and details. ? Organizing materials for works as per program. ? Daily costing and recording of site daily operations. ? Pre and post storm water concrete structure inspections. ? Preparing and inspecting for final handover inspections of concrete stormwater structures with the engineers.

Pros: Exposure to different works
Cons: Over worked. Thrown into deep end

Best place to learn

The company affords new graduates the opportunity to explore all aspects of construction project management. I personally have been a supervisor out on site, a foreman, did a little survey, a quantity surveyors assistant and I'm currently a site engineer. My current job entails monitoring the progress, quality assurance, inspections with the RE and REA's, daily site diaries, coordinate with the lab, monitoring the water quality weekly and ordering of material. The challenge is to find a balance between being out on site and working on your other administration duties in the office. The trick is to be able to forsee what will be needed before it is needed and that's where a good relationship with your seniors or even subordinates is essential

Pros: Freedom to explore and learn
Cons: Long working hours, few leave days, no bonus

Fast leaner and willing to learn

-the work I do is very challenging sometimes -I have a good relation ship with my colleagues even though sometimes I feel lonely because they are speaking their language -I learn to respect one another and listen to what someone say before answering the question and not to bring your problems to work. -when is the last day of capturing the invoices on he side you busy you looking for d/notes from the site and you also need to finish your recons in time -daily filing control -Daily post control and delivery notes -Box filing ,filing of all sub-contracts agreements -filing of month end recons -storage control -Adhoc junior creditors clerk task -Liaising with suppliers and administrating the process of opening credit accounts. -Distribution of invoices and delivery notes for payment.

Pros: for me it will be a great oppurtunity to have this job.
Cons: I can also work overtime if its possible.

I was employed as a junior site engineer. But on site I was doing quality control.

I found it not nice to work there. Because I had my bursary with Masakhi isizwe, then they transferred my bursary to power construction, where they got a placement for me. When I mention I that I want to study further to my btech, they stated to check up on me and say that won't happen if I work I won't Study. I found it unfair because the student that they sponsored they going to study next year. I am not happy the way that they are treating me.

Pros: I did work hard so that I can get promoted
Cons: I worked long hours and I worked on weekends

Good learning experience

A typical day at work would start by a technical meeting early, in this meeting every everyone is to provide feedback on this section of work. This will include delays and how to catch up, it will be written up and posted in the wall. My relationship with co workers, the site is normally has a site organogram. This will show how deals with what and how the reporting is done. As a engineer you are normally at top portion of the organogram, you need to have a good working relationship with everyone. I have work on different projects and they all come with different experience. One most come thing is from design plans the is always facts on site that they couldn't have expected, some keeping records is very important.

Pros: Working with different people with different experience
Cons: Long hours, at times weekends are included.
