Terrible employer..

I arrive at work between 6 and 7 am. I normally do not take lunch and work until at least 5. I am constantly under a lot of stress to meet impossible deadlines. When I am at a clients facility I usually work about 12 hours a day. I recently completed a project where I worked for 2 weeks (including 2 public holidays and weekends) for 15-17 hours a day. I did not receive any compensation for that work. I have a terrible relationship with most of my co-workers - the people I commonly work with are hotheads and does not understand the concept of doing something right the first time. I have learnt how to design in a metals-related industry, however, I did not receive any support/training form senior personnel nor management with this. I had to learn the hard way. There is seriously nothing I can think of that I can say I enjoy of this job. To work at this company is challenging. I would say the problems at the company is the most challenging part.

Pros: I can not think of any at the moment
Cons: Long hours, unreasonable deadlines, poor management, no compensation for hard quality work, no guidance for young starters

Excellent learning curve

Typically a work day is long and tedious. There is a lot to learn within a short time. The company typically do not care to throw you into the deep end and let you learn for yourself. Relationships with co-workers are easy to build and I learn a lot from them. They are however not always very helpful for a new starting engineer. I have learned a lot about gas cleaning systems, the ferro-alloy industry and even a lot about pervaporation and other chemical processes. I enjoy written articles and conducting research at Resonant, There is however not a lot of opportunity for that in Resonant. The most challenging part is to meet deadlines and to learn a lot in a short time.

Pros: Great learning curve and experience
Cons: Long hours and not a lot of opportunity to grow
