School

A typical work day would involve attending a standup meeting, then from there attending to my allocated test cases and executing or following up on the issues blocking testing progress. Relationship with co-workers is a good one, filled with laughs and work most of the time.

Exeptional,team player

Working at Standard Bank has given me so much privilege to work with IT and business people, understanding how the business works and what happens in the banking sector. The Compliance space has given me more knowledge on sanctions and peps and how screening takes places and how alerts are generated. I joined a team that dynamic, allows an individual to grow career wise by working on different projects at the same time.

Pros: The company is still growing hence we feel like adding value into making the company a success

Excellent learning curve

Working closely with the software development and Business Analysts team to understand what a software program is meant to do. Then developing test plans and strategies and examining all aspects of the program from a clients or end-user's perspective and finally finding and eliminating any problems. Typically involved in working on more than one product at a time.

Pros: Opportunity for growth
Cons: Long working hours

Learned not to aim for higher position

During the last 5 years assignment to projects were challenging, however no support was given from the company to deal with politics at the client. I had to trust myself and go with the flow to be able to survive. Had to sit and learn, ask relevant questions. You learn to develop your skills but mentally it can be exhaustive as you cant trust anybody except yourself.

Pros: Salary was good
Cons: No opportunity for promotions
