Excellent and hands on experience

SARCO was a foundry company that specialised in production of steel made rolls. This is where I did my P1 P2 experiential learning. I did my Btech in 2014 after I completed my ND in the field of Metallurgical Engineering at the Vaal University of Technology. April 2019 I graduated my Masters in the same field of study and institution.

Pros: Great opportunity for growth and development
Cons: Long working hours

Excellent learning curve

the work is a lot, im expected to work at my highest level in the plant. the people are sometimes great but some just don't want to co-operate. the most challenging thing is the salaries which do not give motivation to work as hard.

Pros: great skill development
Cons: no hard-work recognition and incentives

I have learnt to manufacture quality SG Cast Iron, White Cast Iron using Induction furnaces.

The people are friendly, Sarco is a busy company, production stops for two days at most. The challenging aspect is the Bruker Spectrometer and controlling the liquidus temperature and retrieving the superheat. Foundry is a very dangerous job therefore safety is most important than time.

Pros: Heavy weights, many materials.
Cons: low pay rate
